Who do you see Jesus as?

What are your thoughts about Him?

What do you believe his purpose was?

Please be reminded this is interfaith discussion and not a debate thread.
Jesus was as much of a sinner the rest of us, and had an oversized sense of His own importance to our salvation, although He did seem to have genuine compassion for the poor.

* God the Son, creator and brother living among us anonymously.

* I love and adore him. I trust him and have found his teachings to be true. I have found the Father in him.

* His purpose was to live the human life of one of his own created beings while subject to the will of the Father, a requirement for achieving unquestioned sovereignty of his own co-creation. Having done so he is Lord and God; “It is finished!”

Who do you see Jesus as?: A maladjusted person in his time.
What are your thoughts about Him?: His followers caused much death and destruction all over the world.

Yes, but how do you really feel about him? :D

Is it not possible that the stories we read about him are embellished misinterpretations of his life and intentions?

I feel about him exactly as I have written. I am sorry that I am no friends with him or any starter of other Abrahamic religions. All stories in scriptures are either totally false or heavily embellished.

If someone wrote something false or heavily embellished stories about me, would you feel the same way about me?

I can’t, in good conscience, condemn another based on what someone says they did for which there is no actual evidence other than some stories.

What is the end result of the actions of people who stated various Abrahamic religions - death, disease, destruction and plunder.
Why would a person in third like that?

To me he's irrelevant. He may have existed, and if so, is a historical figure, the founder of a major world religion.

Jivanmukta: One who has won over life (Lit. Life-free). One who is enlightened and free of the burden of (bad) 'karmas' and as a result of which will not need to be born again.

Jesus is the God of the Old Testament.

Jesus is the One called Allah by Muhammad.

And that Rock was Christ.

Paul here talking to some Old Time Jews:

"For I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, and all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual Rock that followed them, and the Rock was Christ.

So it was the preincarnate Jesus who talked to Noah and did the flood, and is also the Author of my salvation.

What are your thoughts about Him?

I can't wait to meet Him, to stare at His glory, to be standing around the throne and around the Lamb. To cast my crown back down to Him.

"and say: ‘You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.’”

What do you believe his purpose was?

Same as it is now. To eradicate the problem of sin in His Father's universe. To put an end to sin. To be our God, and for us to be His People. To wipe away our tears and make all thingS new.

I never really look at the different sections of this forum. I usually just click the Trending Topic link to see what's interesting.

Your post was the only one to really motivate me today.

Maybe this one:

But it's not a popular thing to suggest to everyone that their belief system has become corrupt.

But I read it as being baked in the cake. Just before Jesus returns all belief systems can be proved false and morph into the 8th and final religion, Lucifer's theocratic government. Which is the people of earth gathered in a war against God, Armageddon.

So I think Jesus is coming soon.

And His reward is with Him.

Peaceful Sabbath.

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
A mythological character created from an interpretation of the OT. The myth caught fire and influenced the world for generations.

It seems to me everyone has their own version of Jesus.

Charity, love your enemies, repent and love God to avoid hell seem to be the central messages of Jesus. Believe in Jesus or perish.

A good man. A leader. Someone who went against the norm and the religious of that day. Maybe he was a form of God? I'm not sure if I believe that or not. But I have a lot of respect for him.

...but has the option to do so for the purpose of helping others. Such a person is not tied to karma.

Not heard of that angle in Hinduism. There will always be nice, realized people to help others. That is why the sky is not falling. It is something that Samyakasama Buddhas (like Gautama) do.

I think Jesus was an enlightened being living for the purpose of helping others (jivanmukta).

This is pretty much how I think. I’m iffy about the manifestation of God thing. If anything I think he was at most anshavatara, partial avatar, expansion. Probably more like the saints and teachers Shankaracharya, Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda, Paramhansa Yogananda, Ramana Maharishi, et. al., those before them and in their line of disciples.

What Jesus taught was corrupted once Paul got his usurping hands on it. I have absolutely no use for Paul and his false modesty and false humility, all for the purpose of his own self-aggrandizement. Everything disliked, despised, detested about Christianity and the evils committed in its name and in Jesus’s name is his doing. Jesus was IMO a cool dude, none of what’s happened is his doing.
