My god, we all answered the same way at the same time. I think that settles it. "Out of the mouth of two or three witnesses, every word shall be established." :)

I suppose this would be the same thing as asking, 'Why are we here? What is life anyway?'
Science does not have an answer, and according to the consensus among scientists, there is no purpose to life - no planning went int life. We merely exist, because that's the course nature took.

If on the other hand, life was no mere accident, but there is an intelligent source of life, then life does have a purpose, and that purpose would be known by that intelligent entity.
So to find the answer, we would have to gain access to that source.

I believe what the Bible says, and it reveals God's purpose.
Any one of these will provide that answer. Page 1, or 2.

Purpose is something conscious beings give to things. It isn't something within the object or process.

So, as I see it, there is NO purpose in life outside of what *we* give to it. We get to decide what our purpose is. We get to decide what our goals are. We get to decide that is meaningful to us.

I don't look outside for purpose. I look inside.

But it is possible to use a tool designed for one purpose to carry out another. Even if there is a creator that made us, there is no reason to assume the original purpose has any meaning to us. Even in that case, it seems to me that *we* decide what our purpose is going forward.

What are your thoughts on what the purpose of life is?
The purpose of Sufism is to purify the inner or spirit to highest maximum level and prepare yourself to be very close to God (Allah). According to sufi system, one has to select a spiritual teacher called Shaikh or Peer who will lead and guide him throughout all the way.

There is also a longer answer to this, and i do write a little about it in my own OP as you already seen :) But the direct purpose of life is summed very well in the statement above.
