4..... Other.

Why do folks commit crimes?
JUST SOME OTHER REASONS...................

GREED self explanatory.
NEED self explanatory
SPEED the intense excitement of the thing.
PEER PRESSURE Feeling obliged to copy/follow friends, relatives, groups.
INTELLECTUAL CHALLENGE The drive to see if one can achieve.
INTELLECTUAL ARROGANCE ....because it is so easy, victims are so stupid.
ANGER They did bad things to me so I'll get them back!
HATRED They hurt me, so I will hurt them
SELF-RIGHT They are wicked so I can do no wrong

the 'other reasons' list is long......

4 -- and that was my first notion, before reading any other responses.

4 and biggest doesn't come in to it. This is a highly researched subject

the root causes of crime [are] poverty, unemploy- ment, underemployment, racism, poor health care, bad hous- ing, weak schools, mental illness, alcoholism, single-parent families, teenage pregnancy, and a society of selfishness and greed.
