What Did You Do Today?

When I read that, it came into my brain as "I need a carrier pigeon".

Might a carrier pigeon be the answer here?
They did nothing to irritate me.
Cell phones, on the other hand, I have hated for about 15 years now when I begrudgingly got my first one because it was cheaper than splitting a landline bill with my roommates then.
They can be my clay pigeons, with those googles and alexas and siris working to interpret exactly what "pull" means.

Nono, don't shoot the carrier pigeon, use the pigeon to take your messages so you don't have to use the phone!

I was the same way. I refused a cell phone until I couldn't afford a landline. Now I refuse a smartphone. And when they stop making flips... I'm going carrier pigeon myself.

How I got my first smart phone was I needed a new phone. The flip phone style I wanted was $99, especially as it's a Samsung and my first phone was a Samsung flip phone, and it took all kinds of abuse, punishment, and torture and still works (or, at least probably would if I could still get a charger and wasn't of an earlier generation that is falling out of service). And there was an HTC smartphone on sale for $1. I was never able to make much money in Indiana, so the cheap phone it was.

Those flips do take some abuse. The screen on mine is crooked, yet it still functions as it should...

Took the kids for a walk. Lured them back in the house with cake(its very very difficult to get Ares back in the house).

Mine ws left out in the rain, had a large cup of soda spilled on it, took a 30 foot plunge onto concrete (opened), run over, and dropped countless times.

My husband cleaned out the attic recently.

By cleaned, I mean he moved all the contents of the attic and dispersed them elsewhere.

My oldest son was complaining about the debris in his room, so I went through and tried to stuff some of it in the totes my husband bought to store the attic contents... and found that the lid for one has already disappeared. Not useful without a lid. But, I did manage to get one box of crap, I mean items, boxed up.

We have a set up in our city in which you pay the city to pick up so many items, and we've been taking advantage of that lately, but my husband's work schedule dramatically changed, and he keeps forgetting to go to the city management building to arrange it. That's thrown a wrench in things.

Its also thrown a wrench in lunchtime. He has been home for lunch for years, giving me opportunity to prepare it. Now he's not. Cooking with Ares in the kitchen... well, its comparable to cooking with an agitated elephant underfoot.

I've also noted I need mustard oil.
Never confuse that with mustard gas.

Oh no! Not again!
Been on the phone for two and a half hours almost. This call has been 1 hour and 29 minutes, with the first two minutes being automated stuff (much of it repeated multiple times) to make three selections, a brief hold, a few minutes talking, and on hold ever since.

I've been catching guppy babies!

Seems the fish have left a new batch. Been gathering them up and putting them in a 'side basket'. (Ares calls it the 'guppy pack and play'.)

I found out, after 3 hours of being on the phone, I'll be another 2-3 weeks without a payment.
And I still have more phone calls to make.

Today I tried out a couple of screenwriting apps.

Fortunately, I haven't found one I like yet.
(Once I do I won't have any excuse for not getting any work done)

Today I'm going to ride my bike down to the beach on my way to town where I'll park myself outside of the university owned theater and download a bunch of movies on to my tablet using their Wi-Fi.

I may or may not pick a few things up at the co-op while I'm there.

This may not sound like a big deal but the truth is I like my new place so much it's really hard for me to get myself to leave and go anywhere these days.

I've been procrastinating so much that yesterday I wound up doing a week's worth of shopping and my laundry in one day. I went to five different stores one right after the other.

It actually feel good. After a weeks worth of spending most of my time online, going out into the world and covering all that ground felt like an epic quest. :D
