I need language learning advice

VoidCat

Pronouns: he/him/they/them
I am working on learning german but I am getting frustrated trying to pronounce the words right. I can read them and know what being said along with writing a sentence or two but pronouncing it? I think my auditory processing issues may be the blame...I have trouble with processing how words sound in English so processing how they sound in german is difficult to say the least. Most of the time I understand what people are saying through lip reading and guessing what is being said based off what I do understand regarding what is being heard in English let alone in german... And then turning around to pronounce something but have no clue if you even heard it right or an inkling how its supposed to be said...any ideas on how to deal with this?

@Shadow Wolf I know you have this problem and learned another language... Anyway you could help?

I worked with a German guy who told me to watch STNG. The klingon language sounds very German. There won't be any words but the pronunciation is spot on, apparently.

I speak German quite well.:)
German pronunciation is very, very easy.
Vowels are the same as in Italian (plus a couple that exist in French too). Also the R is easy to make...once you learn the mechanism.

It is easy to pronounce words because in German there are fixed stable, pronunciation rules.

I know to pronounce Haus or long words like Meinungsverschiedenheit because there are rules.
Btw...since we chat on Discord...I can give you some tips there.

I have auditory processing disorder since I was a kid and still do. Language learning is extra hard. What you can do is write it out as it sounds in English and break it up into syllables.

Do you listen to YouTube videos?

I don't know how to read German, so I would have to go by how it sounds its spelled in English, write it, and pronounce it like that.

The auditory processing is for any language even our native one. So, if you have trouble with listening to your native language because of it try the same adaption techniques for German or foreign languages you're learning.
