BLM cancel demonstration upon learning 'victim' shot by cop was white.

Why would a black protest movement be involved in something that didn't involve black people?
No doubt if this demo had continued racists would be ******* themselves laughing and publicising that to the full.
Some people seem to be unable or unwilling to understand what a protest movement is all about. Back to the All Lives Matter crap now is it? What are All humans oppressed by? A race of giant aliens?

Sad  this is anti-white rasism
Reading beyond the headline the article said, "Black Lives Matter protesters in Minnesota dropped to a knee and set off to march over a fatal police shooting — only to return when they learned it was a white carjacker who had fired at police, according to reports."

In other words maybe it wasn't race that was the central issue, but rather the fact that the carjacker reportedly fired at police.

Exactly.
It doesn't matter to them or the news media if whites are killed.

They held no protests for Justine Damond, who was
murdered by a cop in 2017. BTW, the murderer had
only 7 months training before he was put on duty.
The requirements to become a cop are far far too'
lax for the power they're given over us.

Tp satisfy the demand of racist white people who can only appreciate civil rights movement if it pays it's respect and defend them.
That myopia works both ways. You cannot accuse
only whites of racist attitudes.
The problem is police posing a danger to all people.
But more significant than race is gender. 19 out of 20
people shot are male.

Are you crazy? The case of Justine Diamond mad international news well outside the US and Australia, was the subject of several high profile OP in mainstream media. The perpetrator was also caught and condamned rather swiftly and efficiently. This case was far from being swept under the rug.

How about you?

Her murder got a tiny fraction of the news coverage & protests
devoted to Floyd's murder. No looting. No arson.
I recall interviews with Australians protesting Floyd's murder,
who were questioned about Justine Damond's murder.
Most were unaware of her.

I would like to have a source for your statistic. If it's 7 or 8 out of 10, it would match male criminal rates vs female criminal rates. If it's 19 out of 20 there would indeed be a disrepency.

I've posted it before.
I'll find it again.

Edit...
Here's one for 2015.
Shootings By Police In The United States Of America By Race, Gender, And Age
Note also that "criminal rates" are not just a function of who commits
crimes, but also whom the cops focus upon. This is worth considering
when addressing the claim that blacks commit more crime.
Cops & the whole criminal justice system play a major but unquantified
role in driving these statistics. We cannot just say that blacks or men
deserve to be or should be convicted of more crimes.

Reminds me of NYC's "stop & frisk" policing. Cops would
profile people, & discover crimes. Would it be expected that
those profiled would see an increase in criminal prosecution?

Based on what metric? Her murder wasn't filmed and wasn't the latest in a series of long standing problem of police brutality toward black people in the US either. One also sparked the largest mass protest movement since the 60's while the other did not.

I recall interviews with Australians
protesting Floyd's murder, who were questioned about Justine

And I recall having people questioned about the case of Justine Diamond not remembering who Tamir Rice was, then a famous a recent example of police shooting. Did you remember him? His case made the news a lot and is murder was also filmed. The example of someone having forgotten the name of victim from a crime a couple of years ago if they aren't particularly interested in criminal news is a very poor metric to assess such a thing and make sweeping claim that the media don't care about dead white people (which their archives show as definitely wrong).

Thanks for the source.

PS: Agreed on the bias introduced by focus though there are ways to assess if a roupe deserves to be arrested for some crimes more often then others. Survey on drug usage and traffic showed that Black and Latino were almost certainly severely overepresented for that type of crime for example. Though It's not possible to say the same for other crimes due to lack of data.

Based on what metric?
I've judged it by listening & reading a range of news sources.
I look at coverage frequency, coverage content, & events.
Her murder wasn't filmed and wasn't the latest in a series of long standing problem of police brutality toward black people in the US either. One also sparked the largest mass protest movement since the 60's.
But her murder was the latest in a series of police killings of white
people in the US. Many more whites are shot by cops than backs.
Blacks are only shot at a higher rate.
If this were more widely known, perhaps there'd be more impetus
to reform policing to make it less dangerous to us all.
And I recall havin people questioned about the case of Justine Diamond not remembering who Tamir Rice was, then a famous a recent example of mass shooting. Did you remember him? His case made the news a lot and is murder was also filmed.
You'd think that Australians would be keenly aware that
one of their own (Damond) was murdered by a US cop.
Yet, only Floyd was prominently in their minds.
Why?
The media portray murderous cops as being only a racism
problem. It would be a darn shame if blacks were still
murdered at the same rate that cops murder white folk.
That would still be too many murders.

Are they over-represented because they commit more crimes,
or is it because they're the ones focused upon by cops & courts?
Perhaps cops are trained to fear men (not women), & are because
of this conditioned to shoot men.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

Ah the details left conveniently out surfaces.

Difference in size, strength and misogyny would make male police officer less likely to perceive women as a threat in general. It's important to note though that black and Native women do suffer more often of police brutality and killings than white women and the racial gap is fairly consistent between black men and white men and between black women and white women.

"More" is a word with 2 meanings. There's absolute quantity, &
relative quantity. Those things are significant, but pale in comparison
to the larger problem, ie, police brutalizing everyone.
- Recruitment standards are too low.
- Training is too little & too geared towards abuse & lethality.
- Fellow cops & the whole system shield & exculpate wrongdoers.
- Cops are performing functions inappropriate for them.
