"Planned Parenthood disavows Margaret Sanger"

Its beginning to happen like the "#metoo movement took down mostly prominent members of the Left. Abortion opponents have been pointing out the stunning hypocrisy of Planned Parenthood for years! For the longest time the media ignored or even denied the racist foundation of Planned Parenthood. Now that everything is about "race" PP has been forced to recon with the truth!

Planned Parenthood disavows Margaret Sanger,
but critics say it's not enough

The critics don't care about Margaret Sanger, they just have to scrub together bad faith arguments because they don't like PP giving women abortion access, among the other women's healthcare it provides. They sure as heck aren't out there protesting Kellogg brand because John Harvey Kellogg's weird religious hangups about sex drove him to sociopathy and mutilation. (Also eugenics, too.)

In moments of candor they will just state the obvious:

“Frankly, I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don’t want to have too many of. So that Roe was going to be then set up for Medicaid funding of abortion.” Justice Ginsberg

I too see population growth as a bad thing.

This has nothing to do with my post, other than being another example of bad faith arguing.

Its not bad faith arguing at all. There are plenty or racists on the Left who side with the (D) party to escape their own racism and enjoy immunity from scrutiny by appearing "woke. "
Quote mining for 'gotchas' to misrepresemt your opponents is the sterling example of bad faith arguing. Like, do you honestly expect reasonably intelligent people to engage with this bullocks?

You and I aren't debating abortion. I'm pro-choice btw. The OP is about the racist founding of PP and the ongoing racial disparity of abortion in an age when racial disparity is the topic of the day. Abortion is the leading cause of death in the black community.

Thanks for proving my point that it's not really about Sanger and more about trying to make a wedge against abortion providers, under a thinly veiled, transparently false, disguise about caring for black people.

In your own mind. The truth is that PP was racist from its inception which is not just about Sanger and her eugenics but her enablers as well. PP has had a horrible effect on the black community in America. What's transparently false is the notion that the Left cares about race while simultaneously insuring the limitation of one race in particular.

As you say, in your own mind.

So let's see if we can cut through the BS and get an honest answer out of you:
Would limiting access to affordable birth control and abortion to black people (or realistically to impoverished people suffering from systemic poverty) make the black community better?

Because the truth is I'm actually pro choice. As in I believe abortion and birth control should be available to anyone who doesn't want to be pregnant, for any reason, and it's a violation of body autonomy to refuse women access to abortion, regardless of their sexuality, income, race, religion or national origin.

I also believe in real solutions to systemic poverty, echos from segregation, discrimination, ghettoization, and gentrification. None of which would be achieved by killing PP.

This is another layer in the cognitive dissonance cake that is both sides of the Margaret Sanger discussion.

Did you know Margaret Sanger argued against abortion? She said it was "taking life."

Her life's work was about birth control, but not including abortion as a form of birth control.

I'm not saying this about you, because I don't know you. I do know other conservatives who are themselves unapologetically racist - who are outraged by the so-called racism of Margaret Sanger. She did indeed hold some eugenics ideas but they were based in ideas about health and intelligence, not in race.

The cyclical hand-wringing over Margaret Sanger has kind of worn thin by now, and its effectiveness is just as thin.

Lol, Sanger wasn't racist. A eugenicist, yes, but how she presented it, it was more to do with responsible family planning and not bringing more kids into the world when you couldn't take care of them.
