I'm sorry i'm cheating :emojconfused::disappointed:

I tried to write English on the forum without google translate but it does not work. I'm way too bad at English. So almost all the time I have written everything in google translate, it translates all the sentences from Norwegian to English for me.

I know I wrote I should stop using google translate but I failed.

I wouldn't call that cheating. I have to look up words every now and then and I would be helpless without the in-built spell checker.

anna.

but mostly it's the same

I don't know any Norwegian, so I'm grateful you're using google translate to post here. :)

Do you use it to understand posts too?

To become confident in the skill to use a new language takes time, And rememeber if you make small mistakes, people here point it out for you, to help you, not to make fun of your ability in a foreign language.
As a Norwegian person my self i do know how difficult it can be to master a foreign language. And i can assure you, i did get comments on my english before because i truly sucked in my writing :) And i still write rubbish grammar :D

I understand English very well. I can also read books on religion in English without any problems. What I struggle with is formulating myself in English. Strange really. I understand English well but am poor at speaking and writing English.

By the way, Google translate translated your English into Norwegian very well

Du er et godt og snilt menneske som er med i frivillighetsorganisasjoner:blush:

Yes, I reversed it to check. It's improved a lot. When it first came out the main reason to use it was to have a laugh. :p

Norwegian is a difficult language to learn for foreign people, but it is also difficult for a norwegian person to truly become good in english :)

It's hard to pronounce. I tried listening to norwegian and just gave up. I'm curious. What does English sound like compared to other languages?

For example, Italian and Spanish sound pretty much the same but not similar to French or German.

Jeg svarer deg på norsk jeg:D
Sant det, øvelse gjør mester. Men jeg får ikke fram budskapet når jeg prøver skrive engelsk uten google translate. Innleggene mine blir mye dårligere. Så jeg orker det ikke nå.

Jeg syns du er veldig flink i engelsk nå  Hvis du ikke hadde skrevet på RF at du var norsk så hadde jeg trodd du var fra England eller et annet land med morsmålet engelsk.

I am not sure if you mean "what does norwegian sound more like" ? If that was your question i would say Norwegian is mostly similar to German language in words and sound :)

English does not sound like any other language. English is really a beautiful language I think. Especially British English. It sounds so nice, polite and majestic.

How do you think Norwegian sounds?

Takk :) Jeg har over 20 års erfaring i skriftlig og muntlig bruk av Engelsk så jeg har nok kommet et stykke i å forstå bruken av dette språket .

Kanskje du burde prøve noen få settninger på engelsk uten bruk av Google translate, mens der du er usikker bruker du translate.

Here is an english translation of my answer in Norwegian to @Meandflower

Thank you :) I have over 20 years of experience in written and oral use of English so I have probably come a long way in understanding the use of this language.

Maybe you should try a few sentences in English without using Google translate, while where you are unsure, use translate.
