Which "kids"? I'm retired professionally as I used to teach anthropology for 30 years and also a course in poli sci for 25 years. Is this what you're referring to?

I also have taught in my church for 15 years but that's to adults inquiring about conversion.

At least this administration is doing so much more compassionate work with the refugees, so your obvious support of Trump pretty much shows who is and who's not a "friend of Jesus".

Trump's actions, put in his own words, were not based on the compassion that Jesus taught but was strictly based on politics in order to "send a message". He's obviously a racist, but we knew that even before taking office, especially with his past history that I can link you to here: Racial views of Donald Trump - Wikipedia
I see you’re committed to the false narrative of the liberal media and Democrats. Biden isn’t a friend of Jesus and neither are Peliso, Schumer or the rest.

I'm trying to remember the last time when we were that concerned about our own naturalized kids, aside from the worn and tired political cliché that it's for the children.
I have repeatedly supported programs that help our own "kids", and I still do by my actions. Words by themselves are too cheap.

is more like dependence on government, giving them money they themselves didn’t earn.
Neverminding that the majority of migrant workers work way harder than you or I do, hired for bottom dollar in the service industry, and nevermind that the majority of government assistance program money is used by Republican native Southenours because of endemic poverty,
You don't really know what 'I want' nor did you ask.
We spend an average of $11,000 per child for education now approximately last I checked
That's not really a lot of money considering how much it costs just for supplies, space, food, manpower etc. But the difference is in how the money gets spent. Countries with higher education success rates spend more on teacher salaries and teacher continuing education and less on education boards, less inconsistent distribution among districts, less budget and school hour and day cuts, etc.
Right now our literacy rates and other success metrics are being beaten out by everyone from Finland to South Korea and it sure isn't because we are 'overly liberal.' Since they are more of that then we are.

The January 6th truth or narrative of the left?
You're making it clear that you wouldn't know the truth if it came a hit you in the arse with a 2X4. Many Pubs are appalled at Trump and his base did on the 6th and the 20th, which is why so many have left the party.

We know what happened on both as it was shown over and over again on t.v. and including many lawsuits later. We know that Trump tried to overturn the election, telling Georgia's Republican Secretary of State to "find more votes", and we know that Trump watched what happened on t.v. on the 20th and, according to Republican Senator Ben Sasse, he was "overjoyed" at seeing the Capitol under siege.

But you've repeatedly made it clear that you're heavy into the cult of Trumpism, therefore objective facts not longer matter to you-- just blind loyalty to your super-hero.

That was what your comment in the post said so was answering that. $11,000 per child is a lot of money for education and for what’s being taught now wouldn’t recommend any parent send their kids to public school. They were bad enough when I went to school to the point I didn’t send my kids there, would homeschool kids first. Don’t know about who works harder than who, I’ve worked hard all my life, poverty level for a lot of years and was still working 50-60 hours a week. It’s wrong to encourage migrants to come to the US unlawfully, doesn’t help them or citizens that are affected and have to deal with the out of control situation at the border. I’m glad Harris is down there as point person now. Oh man she hasn’t showed up yet, maybe today.

Trump didn’t overturn the election, democrats did. A lot of dead people voted this year

What is Trumpism? I think you have that

I do agree with this and one of the problems with government, a lot of wasted money and unneeded bureaucracy.

Oh really?

"Pot, meet kettle".
Yeah really? I do actually believe the role of any government is to its own country and citizens first. So America first or Make America Great for a politician is right. After that we help other countries as they allow. The Democrat leadership have no interest in the kids at the border and for you to insinuate that a person doesn’t care about kids or people who are trying to enter the country illegally is all part of the manipulation of liberals. It’s gross actually. Then you take scripture out of context for more guilt trip and manipulative talk.

We, being the wealthiest country in the world, should be able to walk and chew gum at the same time.

Nothing short of sheer unadulterated nonsense. It's called "compassion", especially since there are thousands of children involved, and you have shown that this compassion is largely absent in you.

Then you take scripture out of context for more guilt trip and manipulative talk.
I have not taken any scripture out of context, so I'll dare you show us where I supposedly did.

But one thing you have made abundantly clear is that Jesus' teachings on what he said about his Two Commandments that we must follow, namely love of God and love of neighbor, is not binding on you. Instead, I think it's quite obvious that you put much more emphasis on secular right-wing politics, which should be of no surprise since you've repeatedly defended Trump's blatantly immoral words and actions, such as what I provided you with a link showing his racist words and actions from a non-partisan source.

IOW, you have "made your bed", and it is with Trump. One can either believe in Jesus or believe in Trump since they are largely at polar opposites on so many issues that involve even the most basic Judeo-Christian and humanitarian values, thus one simply cannot believe in both without diving head-long into cognitive dissonance. Trump's "values" involve materialism, hedonism, dishonesty, authoritarianism, and self-centeredness, which are "values" that are condemned in all the major religions and also being a humanitarian.

If you'd like, I can take each of those traits that Trump perpetuates and be more specific, with proof if requested, but the more I read your posts, the more I realize that your true driving force is simply the cult of Trumpism.

It is very possible and we do love our neighbor as ourselves here. We are a wealthy and blessed nation because we have honored God in the past and been generous with our wealth.
Your false judgmental attitude is wrong, we are always helping people in other countries as well as in our community where we live. The best option is to help people prosper where they live, not transplant them to the US and abandon their country.
It’s not loving your neighbor as yourself when you’re not at all concerned about the affect illegal immigration has on those people living in the areas affected by the slave trade, drug cartels and you’re enabling that activity claiming “it’s the kids” you’re worried about.
You would have to be deaf and blind if you can’t see the outreach of the Church worldwide providing education, clean water, building churches, healthcare, glasses, healing, adopting orphans by sending money for clothes, education and most important- the gospel and eternal life.We are involved in all that and have been since I’ve been a believer.
For you to insinuate any of what you say is false, maybe you are called to bring these kids into your own home or to go help at the border. I’m doing what God called me to here and helping other people who are called to missions.

Which is what the Biden administration is working on since the Trump administration removed us from the consortium that was trying to do just that, and he removed all federal aid to these countries, including that which was funneled through churches.

Yes, as I have been involved with that process, indirectly though.

But the churches simply cannot handle the numbers that are involved, plus they are often under attack by the government by leaders and the drug cartels in the NTC. The denomination I'm a congregant in is heavily involved with this.

I’m doing what God called me to here and helping other people who are called to missions.
Fine, but missions alone simply cannot and have not been able to handle this problem, either within the Trump or Biden administrations. Much more is needed, especially until the Latin American consortium that we are involved with can be restored.

Personally, I keep very close track on this because of my affiliations with the Church but also my involvement with the United Farm Workers Ministries. Also, "America" magazine, which is a Jesuit publication, has articles in basically every issue on this, and you can access some of them on-line: America Magazine

@metis
You have any Church contacts in the countries where people are leaving, that’s the best way to help. Partner with the Churches. All for it
See my post #195.

I used to have contact within the Church in El Salvador in the past but not currently.

Problem with governments involvement is they are corrupt and the money doesn’t get to the people. Illegal immigration has been an issue since Reagan so I don’t trust Biden or anyone in government that has been involved for the last 10
years or more. They have failed and should step down.

@metis
I wouldn’t just give money without checking to see where the money is actually spent. People unfortunately have been dishonest with charities. You say Trump stopped giving aid because he is racist and a mean person, really? Do you really know why? I don’t for sure but when I’ve looked into those kind of things it was usually because the money was getting wasted or misused so it was stopped.

My "false judgement"? Like actually caring about children is "false judgement"? Like doing something to help those in need versus just talking-the-talk is "false judgement"?

It’s not loving your neighbor as yourself when you’re not at all concerned about the affect illegal immigration has on those people living in the areas affected by the slave trade, drug cartels and you’re enabling that activity claiming “it’s the kids” you’re worried about.
You don't have a clue.

You would have to be deaf and blind if you can’t see the outreach of the Church worldwide providing education, clean water, building churches, healthcare, glasses, healing, adopting orphans by sending money for clothes, education and most important- the gospel and eternal life. I already acknowledged that in my last post, so all you are doing with the above is a disingenuous repeating what I have already said.

For you to insinuate any of what you say is false, maybe you are called to bring these kids into your own home or to go help at the border.
Just another dishonest statement on your part, especially since you have not stated one single thing as to what I posted that was "false".

. I’m doing what God called me to here and helping other people who are called to missions.
Which clearly has not been enough if you were to follow any objective news source at all. IOW, you're all talk, as it's not all about "missions".

Problem with governments involvement is they are corrupt and the money doesn’t get to the people. Illegal immigration has been an issue since Reagan so I don’t trust Biden or anyone in government that has been involved for the last 10 years or more. They have failed and should step down.
Again, another dishonest statement as you have continually refused to blame anything the Trump administration did that exacerbate the situation. All you are doing is playing partisan politics.

I wouldn’t just give money without checking to see where the money is actually spent. People unfortunately have been dishonest with charities
I've already done that as there are couple of websites whereas they're rated on efficiency.

You say Trump stopped giving aid because he is racist and a mean person, really?
Yes, "really". And many Republicans of conscience have admitted as such and left the party as I previously posted. The fact that you completely give Trump a free pass is just partisan politics at its worse.

Your utter misrepresentation of what I've posted on numerous occasions is appalling, plus your blind support for the lack of even the most basic ethics shown by Trump and his administration that is contrary what Jesus taught is so pathetic. Christ did not teach to just let others "in missions" do all the work. Christ did not teach that the plight of innocent children should be ignored. Christ did not teach that materialism, hedonism, and dishonesty are acceptable. Your blind belief in Trump is very "telling", as is your dishonesty in these "conversations".

I am temporarily putting you on my ignore list as I don't want to continue on with this any longer.

I’m not called to overseas missions but missions right where I live, I support people called to overseas missions. Everyone has a different call, a
different burden and area of ministry. That my friend is what the Scripture teaches.
