Just curious, are preachers discouraged from posting on RF? I mean preaching is what they do after all, no? Well I suppose they can think and believe till the cow comes home like the rest of us. Kinda silly when you think about it. It’s like a singer who doesn’t sing or a painter who doesn’t paint. Oh well too bad for that profession I guess when it comes to this website. They’re just saying what they believe with conviction. It’s kind of refreshing actually. I guess I’ll have to go elsewhere for that.

A preacher can post as long as it's within forum rules. Just because one is a preacher, does not mean all they do is preach/proselytize.

We've had clergy on here. As another person indicated, they can also discuss. There are preachers who don't preach, and non-preachers who preach.

Preaching is against our rules.

The goal is to have free debate and discussion, but not to try to convert. Learn from and respect each other.

8. Preaching/Proselytizing
Creating (or linking to) content intended to convert/recruit others to your religion, spirituality, sect/denomination, or lack thereof is not permitted. Similarly, attempting to convert others away from their religion, spiritual convictions, or sect/denomination will also be considered a form of preaching. Stating opinions as a definitive matter of fact (i.e., without "I believe/feel/think" language, and/or without references) may be moderated as preaching.

I’ve listened to sermons aka preaching that were insightful and weren’t offensive or trying to convert me. Oh well no biggie
I find Jesus emphasized ' teaching ' at Matthew 28:20
So, there could be a difference between preaching or teaching.
Was the sermon you heard just preaching or insightful teaching ________
I find Jesus instructed to do more than preach but to teach - Matthew 11:1
As a teacher Jesus more than just proclaimed but he instructed, explained or expounded things to others.

For sure that happens. The degree to which it is preaching depends on the topic somewhat, as well as who's doing it.

So is preaching a bad offensive thing? Or did the bad preachers ruin it for the good preachers?
Preaching is okay for me, as long as they do not belittle other's faith or lack thereof
I like it when someone is enthusiastic about his belief; the more the better
It ends when he claims "my way is the highway, also for others"

I prefer actual discussion, and find fake discussion and fake debate annoying. The key is that they aren't listening at all to your response. It's not a discussion at all, just a one way deal. I've opted out of a great many discussions for that reason alone. What's the point, really? Nobody is learning anything.

Amen, sister! People with lucid intuition stick together, like atoms coalescing into molecules.

You are totally right, I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder. I used to go to a church for many years, because I like to sing. But you are totally right, they had no interest in my faith at all. In these 6 years, nobody of the 4000 members asked me once about my faith, though they knew about it. I totally forgot about that fact. Indeed, those that preach, usually have only interest in themselves, which I can understand, because if you believe that your faith is the best, then you block yourself from being open. Arrogance is a one way street

They might fake interest in you, just to get you over to their side though.
