U.S. economy added eye-popping 916,000 jobs in March, crushing expectations

The big picture: March's jobs report marked the biggest hiring spree since last summer.

Plus: Job gains in both January and February were even higher (+156,000) than previously reported.

Details: The leisure and hospitality sector (think restaurants, bars, etc.) was the standout with 280,000 new jobs added. But there were broad gains across other industries — construction, manufacturing — too.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Wonder how it summarized when all the jobs that were destroyed by the lockdowns are factored in?

Only one way to find out. Look it up.
I don't know how many were lost but according to this article 27 million people were unemployed as of early March
Tracking the COVID-19 Recession’s Effects on Food, Housing, and Employment Hardships | Center on Budget and Policy Priorities
Data from the Census Bureau’s basic monthly Current Population Survey released March 10, 2021 provide more detail on unemployed workers and their family members. Some 27 million people either met the official definition of “unemployed” (meaning they actively looked for work in the last four weeks or were on temporary layoff) or lived with an unemployed family member in February.
This figure includes nearly 7 million children.

The official definition of “unemployed” leaves out many workers deprived of pay amid the pandemic, including some 4.2 million workers in February who did not look for work “because of the coronavirus pandemic,” according to the Labor Department. The official definition also omits over 700,000 workers who reported that they had a job but that they were absent from work without pay and lost pay in the last four weeks “because their employer closed or lost business due to the coronavirus pandemic,” we calculate.

When family members are considered, as many as 38 million people in February, including nearly 10 million children, lived in a family where at least one adult did not have paid work in the last week because of unemployment or the pandemic, we estimate.

Make you wonder why we needed such a humongous stimulus?
Because a lot of those people absolutely needed that money until they got that first check (or still waiting for it).
And it's because many people, even with jobs, are still struggling due to an economic slump.

Nor does quality of life.
How can you keep going on about this when we know countries that complied with covid restrictions and lockdowns walked through this relatively unscathed and have already been on a track towards economic recovery long before America? Or would you rather us be more like Brazil and still being damned and condemned to suffering with it? Or like Sweden where they were more hands off and then regretted that decision later?

To expand government's power, of course.
Also, inflation makes money for it, since most will
be pushed into higher tax brackets, & capital gains
taxes will apply to phantom profits (ie, more dollars
needed for the same economic value).

Terrified to be mistaken for a republican?

Very revealing about democrats.

But what specifically is the threat ?
Mobbed and beaten, then unfriended
shunned and canceled? Terrif people,
maintaining discipline through terror.
Oh darn and here I thought people would go off-topic and make it personal. Dodged that bullet!
