The JW organization refused top join the National Redress Scheme for victims of institutional child sexual abuse last year. They were publicly named by Australia's Federal government as one of the groups that did not do so.

Quote from social services minister that shows the impact of this choice by these groups: "Think about the reputational damage by you saying, as an organization, that despite having a history of working with children, despite having applications against your organization for child sexual abuse, you still refuse to accept your moral obligation and responsibility to come forward and allow these people the small thing of a bit of redress and a small amount of money to acknowledge that they actually have had wrongs committed against them," she told the ABC's AM program.

This month, the JW organization has decided to join the National Redress scheme because if not, they will lose their charity status as per a recent ruling.

So they refuse to take responsibility for the child abuse that happens in their organization by those that they have appointed as per their organizational structure but when they are threatened with the loss of money then they will only join up.

Unfortunately a great many organisations, religious and otherwise, have refused to see what is under their noses until they are forced to. It's just too uncomfortable for them to contemplate willingly, I think.

One of the leaders of Jehovah's Witnesses once said in court that the testimony of one witness is invalid. That is why the perpetrators are not punished but saved. There must be at least two witnesses, as it is written in the Law of Moses. That's what he said. So if a child is abused and reports it but has no other witness, the child has no chance. They use the Torah to justify themselves, but they do not understand the Torah.

Not so strange IMO

Money rules the world, and usually leaders have a surples of narcissistic habits, who naturally never admit their wrongdoings

Very true. I think that it is uncomfortable for the laymen to accept but the leaders ignore these things deliberately as they know what is going on.

Yeah. The Two Witness rule which is insufficient for child abuse cases. I think they take advantage of it to have a loophole when they can claim that no sexual abuse happens because there arent two witnesses to provide evidence.

Very true.

It isn't strange to me either, but JW's generally don't accept that their organization are capable of hiding these things.

I heard they like to handle things themselves, and not hiding things inside.

Now that it's getting out in the open is a whole different scenario. Maybe it's just that.

That is a tricky thing, to prove rape. Esp. because people easily lie and don't like to admit wrongdoings

I read recently that in Islam they also need more witnesses for things like sexual abuse.

I read in Koran, that they need 4 men to accuse a chaste woman from having sex. Even if there are 4 men then still the woman can declare she is not guilty and won't be punished. That sounds good, the woman seems to be protected at least from not being charged when innocent, according to Koran.

I don't know how easy a rapist gets away in Islam.

The Lord apparently moved them to do the right thing though the lure of money.

Well the thing is that Jehovah's organization can do no wrong can it? The JW premise is that the group is Gods organization, and God is guiding it through their leaders, therefore it is impossible for them to do wrong things such as hiding child abuse issues.

So they will think that anything contrary to their ideal image of the organization is fake.

Rape is definitely difficult to prove. But at the very least an accusation must be investigated and documented.

I have no idea about Islam's ruling on such matters but the information you present is interesting.

OMG,

I think I read it before, but only now you put it like that, I really realize it's impact. That must be the reason, but IF true, that would really show some lack of humility and quite some abundance of Spiritual Ego, esp. towards the Divine. I really hope, for their sake, this is not true

Well, just look at the posts by JW's on the forum and see whether they are humble or not. When was the last time they admitted a mistake? How often do they say that their religion is right and everybody else is wrong? How often do they brag about not believing in the Trinity, their worldwide ministry and their supposed unity? How often do they not address criticism in any practical way without created a Red Herring or a Strawman?

Most JW's on this forum are representative of the attitude of the JW's as a whole.

They do use extreme doublethink though which I like pointing out. They believe simultaneously that their group isn't infallible but also that God is guiding their organization, the publications are sent by God and that they must obey everything the GB says because God guides them. They simultaneously believe that they have THE truth, that they do not teach falsehood, as well as believe in the New Light doctrine in which they replace old incorrect teachings with new ones. They simultaneously believe that their group is unified as well as believing that there are "weeds" among them who eventually get excommunicated and that when New Light comes about, a GB member must disagree with a belief. They criticize other groups for participating in war while simultaneously hoping for Armegeddon to come so that Gods enemies can be destroyed. They condemn violent media but praise the violence in the Bible.

So yeah, their spiritual ego is HUGE to the extent that they don't see reality for what it is.
