How is everyone doing in lockdown/ dealing with the circumstances in general?

It's a really tough time so maybe the thread were people can vent a bit about it might be helpful.

Hope everyone is keeping safe

Since all my classes have been online, I don't need to go out of town. So, I walk every where and only take the bus when I need to.

Lockdown? Other than wearing a mask in the grocery store and fewer seats in restaurants, everything seems fairly normal (rural PA) here.

Good luck.

Been really good here. All classes are online, which is a lot of work, but it is good.

We don't go out to eat as much, which is good financially...we are out of debt. And my wife is getting to be an excellent cook!

But it would be very nice to be able to travel, though.

Actually lockdown is not a thing where I live right now (QLD.)
There’s social distancing and restrictions for gatherings/restaurants etc.
Our lockdown was swift and strict, though.
My condolences for those still under lockdown

Ohio isn't under a lockdown anymore. We just have the distancing and the mask thing, which I hate, but what can you do.

In Toronto, we're still in lockdown.

Unfortunately for me, as a child who lived in dozens of foster homes (all hated) after being afraid to go home as a child because I'd be beaten to near death, I have spent the rest of my life wanting to be anywhere except at home. This has been crushing for me. Literally, crushing.

We are being more careful than we need to be under California's current 'purple' status. But it's not a big deal at least for us.

My wife has worked from home for many years so it's no different. I can do most of my volunteer work at home and wear a KN95 mask when I go to the store and other places.

We'd feel more freedom opening up if it weren't for the new variants that are spreading since I've had my 2 shots and my wife will get her 2nd this week.

Besides the variants, we're REALLY grumpy about those who are acting to spread the virus and slow down and even reverse the recovery by getting rid or refusing to wear masks and keep their distance.

Just got my second Moderna shot. I had side effects of fatigue, mild temperature and a mild headache.

I have been teaching hybrid since August, both in-person and virtual.

I don’t fear Covid, I fight it.

If people are not afraid of dying of Covid why are so many people lining up for the shots?
Let's get real, most people are afraid of dying, as if a vaccine would make them immortal......
Most people say they believe in God but do they really? It seems to me all they care about is extending their lives in this material world of dust and waiting for the Covid restrictions to be lifted so they can continue doing more of the same activities.
My husband and I have been eligible for the shots for some time but neither one of us have gotten the shots yet...

It is quite simple the benefits of getting the vaccine far, far outweigh the cons. It isn’t trying to become immortal. It is taking a reasonable step to not needlessly die sooner.

How about you also learning to be an excellent cook too?

There is a lot we are not doing on the social scene, all events cancelled. We usually travelled to the UK every couple of months to visit family and friends before the pandemic. We no longer do touristy visits around our local area with the kids or visitors from the UK. Shopping is much much faster, previously we had to add on an extra 30 minutes to an hour chatting with people we know, now its a nod and quick ça va? from a distance. Wearing face masks and social distancing has become the norm.

On the other hand things at home have become closer, we spend more time with the kids (especially when the schools were closed) Previously they would mostly be at school or out playing with their friends. This is for @Polymath257, teaching them how to cook has been one of our pleasures ;-).
Cosy family nights by the fire are really good fun.

And the house, about half of it is redecorated, all done with our own fair hands. Currently painting the garden iron work.

I do hope everyone is keeping safe and well
