When do you get a notification for being mentioned in a post?

Hi everyone,
I did not receive a notifaction here:
Why do some celebrate Jesus death?
I think it's like this:
I get a notification normally. But if someone changes their text afterwards and mentions me then, I don't.
Is it like this?

Regards,
Thomas

I estimate about 1/4 of frubals are not notified to me. This i notice when i do get one, go the the post and notice the post has earned several other frubes. Other times it seems to work fine. I can't say i have noticed with mentions but it's not something i looked for.

Why this happens i have no idea.

Now that you mention it ... I haven't got notifications about frubals for a long time. (Maybe because I get so many?) But as far as I can tell they are correctly reported in the "Ratings received" list.

I doubt it. The timestamp doesn't say that the message was edited.

Except when that feature is also not universal. This message should now show "last edited" in the timestamp.

And it doesn't ... Maybe there is a window in which edits aren't mentioned?
But, @thomas t, we can now test if you get a notification now. Do you?

I have given you a few.

You get 5 minutes to edit your post, time stamp doesn't change. Edit after 5 minutes and last edited is appended to the time stamp

Thanks, I suspected something like that. That's why after my first edit of #6 nothing happened but the second edit (7 minutes after the original) got the "edited".

And to check if editing makes a difference here a mention of @thomas t from an unedited post.

Just an untested hypothesis, but it is testable, I sometimes use a tablet and have fat fingers. I often miss the frubal that I am aiming at. So then I change it immediately. I have always wondered when people get notification for that frubal and which one.

@Christine, I gave you a heart frubal and changed it to a thumbs up. Then I waited a whole minute or two to post. How did the system notify you?

Yes I received the notification.

I suspect that in the above mentioned post, @exchemist mentioned me in an edit that happened during the first five minutes after the post ( as Christine pointed out).

Cristine this is how it works on RF, in my opinion:
If you are offline and receive 3 frubals for one and the same post... you are notified once.
If you're online while these three happen, you get notified every single time.
So, when you say you don't get notifications for one quarter of your frubes... it means that you spend too much time offline;)

Except either my phones, tablet and computer, between them are connected around 18 hours per day, most of that time RF is running even though i may not always be using it it's minimised or tabbed ready for use (who says im hooked)

I can create a post, visit a few of my regular haunt RF threads and then get a notification of a frubal on such and such a thread. I often don't remember what ive written so go back to the post so see if i can pen a witty thanks relating to the post and notice several other frubes.

I don't know if for some post that are frubed i get no notification at all. I was considering creating a thread to thank all those people i have missed but not done it yet... As they say, its the thought that counts.

Your thought may have merit but often enough its not relevant. My thought on the matter was the program prioritising actions during busy periods and perhaps some notifications are not that important to the system.

Its just happened again. Checking a frube i noticed another unnotified frube for the same post

Edit and while typing that, it happened on another thread.

I didn't keep track but I'm pretty sure I got a "thank you" for every single frube I gave you.
