War, the final battle.

A great battle is unfolding.

Religious orthodoxy has failed. The rule of Nations has failed. Our material civilization has failed.

The war between what is good and what is not good is approaching a final battle.

It brings verse 30 of the Quran to light

"Remember how the Unbelievers plotted against thee, to keep thee in bonds, or slay thee, or get thee out (of thy home). They plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah."

What is your vision of the future of this world?

For a start, I don't buy the premise.

You make a number of remarkable claims that require to be supported. I see no evidence that the "rule of nations" has failed. Nor do I see evidence that our material civilisation has failed. What I see in general is progress in human affairs, by degrees and not monotonically, but progress nonetheless.

What constitutes "failure", in your view? And on what basis do you forecast that some kind of apocalyptic battle between good and evil is imminent?

The only failure I can see of our civilisation is that of global warming, and further material progress such as electric cars, renewable energy and a decline in global population is more likely the antidote to global warming than conversion to Baha'i is.

Yep. That's what we do. We fail, we analyse, we fail less next time.
While our state is an up and down, each up is higher than the last and with some exceptions even the downs are not as low as the last. Overall there is a positive trend in world affairs. I see no reason why this trend is reversing.

Does your religion skew your vision?

You have an expectation of a downfall of some kind?

Me, I kind of expect technology to save us. Though I imagine several minor and major hiccups as people misunderstand or even abuse the new technology. However, I think there are enough people that are motivated by fairness and equality to pull us back from the brink of catastrophe.

Maybe it's time to let go of these end-of-the-world predictions made by archaic beliefs.

The arms race a first and 2nd world war, other wars, the cold war, the opression of citizens does not to me indicate a progressive rule of justice.

Unity of the Human race will indicate a progressive thought.

Hi Tony,

Hope the month of fasting is going well for you. My initial response is “What leads you to conclude the failure of religious orthodoxy, the failure of nations and the failure of material civilisation?” I see you’ve already answered that question to some extent.

I suspect many of us will have widely different perspectives on each of these questions. I don’t think the world is going to end anytime soon but I see there see a number of challenges and threats to humanity as a whole. I think we are at a crossroad and have been for sometime. We have a crisis in a number of key areas.

I could be more specific but have said enough for now. I will be interested in how your thread unfolds.

Well, you already know my vision, but the passages below sum it up. I do not see the collapse it as a bad thing, as it is in accordance with God’s Purpose for humanity.

“God’s purpose is none other than to usher in, in ways He alone can bring about, and the full significance of which He alone can fathom, the Great, the Golden Age of a long-divided, a long-afflicted humanity. Its present state, indeed even its immediate future, is dark, distressingly dark. Its distant future, however, is radiant, gloriously radiant—so radiant that no eye can visualize it....”
The Promised Day is Come, p. 116

What we are seeing all around us is the very beginnings if what Jesus asked us to pray for:
Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

The Kingdom of God on earth is what Baha'is also refer to as the “new world order.” The old world order is defective and it has been crumbling since the coming of Baha’u’llah but the rate at which this is happening is rapidly escalating. You can see that all over the world in politics and religion. Governments are rapidly changing and the older religions are being challenged. How can any observant person deny that?

“The winds of despair,” writes Bahá’u’lláh, as He surveys the immediate destinies of mankind, “are, alas, blowing from every direction, and the strife that divides and afflicts the human race is daily increasing. The signs of impending convulsions and chaos can now be discerned, inasmuch as the prevailing order appears to be lamentably defective.” The Promised Day Is Come, p. 116

Concurrent with the collapse of the old world order, a new world order is in the process of being built and it will eventually replace the old world order.

“This is the Day in which God’s most excellent favors have been poured out upon men, the Day in which His most mighty grace hath been infused into all created things. It is incumbent upon all the peoples of the world to reconcile their differences, and, with perfect unity and peace, abide beneath the shadow of the Tree of His care and loving-kindness. It behoveth them to cleave to whatsoever will, in this Day, be conducive to the exaltation of their stations, and to the promotion of their best interests. Happy are those whom the all-glorious Pen was moved to remember, page and blessed are those men whose names, by virtue of Our inscrutable decree, We have preferred to conceal.

Beseech ye the one true God to grant that all men may be graciously assisted to fulfil that which is acceptable in Our sight. Soon will the present-day order be rolled up, and a new one spread out in its stead. Verily, thy Lord speaketh the truth, and is the Knower of things unseen.” Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, pp. 6-7

Other than medical science, I can't say anything's getting better.

But I can't say its getting worse, either. Each era has its own trials and challenges, and its own strengths and pleasures. While its easy to pick out the faults and hyper focus on them, we tend to forget to look at what is right(either for our current time, or the times of the past).

My vision of the future is this will continue. Some things will improve. Some will get worse. And this will carry on and on....

What is it about this particular occassion that makes predictions of world ending events more trustworthy than the past X number of times people have identified these signs?

Why have people seen these signs through history?

There are general objective universal moral truths. I would say that much of morality is this way. The rest of morality is relative to the individual so long as it does no psychological, emotional and physical harm.

The future of humanity rests with humanity, we should not impede or force things on other people's conscience when that conscience is clear and harms no one physically, emotionally or psychologically.

It will be a bright future when we recognize that there are good people that are totally different than ourselves.

Harm is something damaging to a victim and not to be confused with tough discipline measures. There are tough disciplines where people must face negatives, and overcome adversity. There are tough disciplines that make people confront their own actions, and intentions. Those kinds of disciplines are healthy.

It would be a mistake if we all became snow flakes, and didn't recognize the value of toughness, and tolerance. It would be a mistake also to force conform someone to judgments that do not fit the person's own personal conscience.

But the biggest thing to me about the future of humanity is knowing the difference between your right to a personal conscience and when that personal conscience violates others, it must be stopped.

I'm against telling other people how to run their own lives, and setting up a false authority over other people.

But a universal objective morality is needed that is reality based.

To me, my hard fast rule is that of responsible, adult consent of a shared conscience is freedom of relationship. We should not be violating other people's conscience when that conscience is clear of physical, emotional, and psychological harm to anyone.

On the other hand, the global trends of vastly improved life expectancy, declines in birth rates and poverty, the disappearance of barbaric practices such as human sacrifice, and the hopeful signs of global collaboration on climate change suggest that there is progress.

To me the physical final war has happened with WWII. The act of one man saving the world from annihilation during the Cuban Missile Crisis was the peak of that battle. While wars have not ended, we've seen the longest stretch of relative piece in recorded history.

The darkness has not totally passed as is evident from the news.

But the dawn is just breaking like spring starts doing in winter when there are subtle signs that the season is changing. I've posted this before, but again:

Even the pandemic is exposing issues to be solved and showing the future is starting as companies and countries work on vaccines and treatments.

Some people sense that change. I see this in images like this one:

I agree we are in the beginning states of the biggest collective awakening ever seen in the history of mankind.

It might look dark now, but the dawn is just breaking and the darkest hour is just before the dawn.

Here's a list of 14 forgotten diseases, because of vaccines. Polio is at the top of the list. 14 Diseases You Almost Forgot About (Thanks to Vaccines)

(In the 40s and 50s, polio killed or permanently maimed over half a million people per year.)

I personally do not see an end of the world, but a great change will happen.

I see this is written in all scripture and as such will unfold for each civilisation that builds a material civilization that does not look after the welfare of all peoples.

Personally I see material civilization when carried ro access is a pernicious influence.

Time will tell, but I see modern day cities are not viable, decentralised economies need to be established.
