The bible mentions not to worship the golden calf.
To the christians that more or less worship Trump, here's your golden calf that people had to take pictures with and rally around.

Whether they are Christians or not and are worshipping him or not... only God knows. Could be non-Christians too. For that matter, people can worship their cars, themselves, their jobs, et al. So I'm not sure what the issue is here.

As long as you don't bow down to Trump and worship... you are doing good.

Then again, at a Christian viewpoint, you will either bow down and worship God now or at the hereafter.

You can believe all you like and that it so okay. But I will still believe differently. So from a naturalistic atheistic viewpoint when you die, you die.

It's sorta funny, but in a pathetic way, that I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the "Golden Trump" displayed at CPAC, questioning whether they ever read any of what's found in the Book of Exodus?

It seems to be degenerating into self-parody. I thought Giuliani at the garden centre outside the porno shop was the end. And then I thought Giuliani's hair dye was the end. And then I thought that guy in furs with horns, inside the Capitol, was the end. But no. Not quite.

Politics makes strange bedfellows
Political interests can bring together people who otherwise have little in common. This saying is adapted from a line in the play The Tempest, by William Shakespeare: “Misery acquaints a man with strange bedfellows.” It is spoken by a man who has been shipwrecked and finds himself seeking shelter beside a sleeping monster.

Yes... there are different viewpoints. You could say it is as varied as the interpretation that the OP declared.

I have to admit, when I first heard of this, I thought it was done by anti Trumpers. To mock and denigrate Trump supporters.
I mean to make a literal Gold statue of the guy?
I honestly thought it was a jab at worshipping money and mocking people for having an idol instead of a president:
I’m just saying, it sounds like a parody found on Family Guy

Except it was at the CPAC conference.

In my view, it definitely was out of taste. Whoever thought of that needed some wise counsel.

The whole pro-Trump movement is a personality cult with beliefs similar to religion, including the Big Lie. It should not surprise us that some idiots would take it to the extreme of making a golden statue.

I would say the Golden calf would have been quite expensive, genuine and heavy. Golden Trump is cheap and artificial, with fiberglass and wire covered in gold spray paint.

If it was me, I'd made an official Trump gold chalice, filled it with wine and everyone drank from it at the rented moose lodge where you received your official Trump wig and learned the secret Trump Hi sign.

Whoops.... I said too much.

Ha "Golden Trump". All he has to do is get a gold spray tan instead of an orange one.
