Ingrown Hairs... the Pain!

No matter which direction I shave in, my facial hair still gets multiple ingrown hairs. They hurt and leave an unsightly spot when tweezed out. Both shaving foam and shaving cream/aftershave make little to no difference.

What do you do to avoid this, if you have the same problem?

How often do you change your razor blade? The few times I have that problem is when my blade is overdue for changing.

Well, I haven’t done any shaving for nearly 3 months. But even when I did. I never really had this problem. It appears to affect people with curlier hair.

That said, I’ve heard that staying away from non-electric shavers helps, as does not shaving closely...leaving a bit of stubble.

Well trim it then, no need for shaving! :p
Facial hair can be quite attractive.
In my younger days....

It still needs to be trimmed so that I don't look like I just came out of a horror movie. :p

Nothing wrong in looking like you just came out of a horror movie ;-)

Hubby has recently started a beard for no other reason than he is fed up of shaving. He invested in an electric hair trimmer and gives himself a #2 whenever it feels too long.

Oh, you poor thing. If I were a man, I would probably go the lazy way and stop shaving.
Have you tried scrubbing your skin before shaving? You can buy a scrub in a shop or make your own with sugar or very smooth sand. It doesn't have to be expensive to be effective.

I've tried that, yes. I think the combination of my having curly hair and sensitive skin causes the problem.

I'll probably end up using an electric shaver/trimmer more often; razors are quite nasty for me if I use them frequently.
