Is the Sabbath tough for you to observe?

Is the Sabbath tough for you to observe?
Nah. I was raised Orthodox Jewish; we do this every week. Shabbat really is a needed day of rest.

That is not what the scripture says. It says:
Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.
Exodus 31:13
Notice it says speak to the “ children of Israel” and that “it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations “.
The Sabbath is not for Christians or non-Jews. It is a unique SIGN between the Israeli/Jewish people and God. The fact that Jews around the world still keep the Sabbath and have throughout their generations (even non-religious ones) is an incredible testimony of the God of the Bible, the God of Israel, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and demonstrates His eternal covenant with those of Israel, the Jewish people.

Read scripture. Take the sacrament. Fast monthly. Pray. Don't buy or sell. Go to Church. Be reverent. Talk to friends and family (so message boards are fine). Cook with single purpose of heart. Rest.

Most people rest on the Sabbath. For Christians, that's Sunday, and for Jews, that's Friday night to Saturday night.
The United States shuts down on Labor Day (the only day of the year when labor is not supposed to be done). But that leaves the world without workers for a day, and some can't get along without someone working. Therefore, it makes more sense for a few of us to work only on Labor Day, and not work the rest of the year.
Still others, take vacations on holidays, such as Canadian Ground Hog Day, or Zulu Zebra Day (which I intend to create some day). Since a holiday is always happening somewhere in the world, that should be sufficient grounds to goof off all year round.

Just because they squabbled with another Jewish sects doesn't mean they considered themselves anything but Jews. Pharisees, Essenes, Christians, Sadducees... all Jews.
The early Christian communities were pretty widespread. Their doctrines diverged, and their relations with other sects, religions and the local government no doubt varied as well. The ecumenical councils where they decided what beliefs and practices were to be orthodox were held to unify the various Christian sects.
Didn't Jesus say he wasn't changing any Jewish law? And wasn't there later a dispute between Peter, Paul and James the brother of Jesus about conversion of gentiles to the Christian sect of Judaism?
Same as it always did -- Saturday.
I think it was later when the schism heated up and the Christians began earnestly trying to differentiate themselves from the more traditional Jews. Wasn't it at this point that judaizing was condemned, the orthodox doctrine began to be formalized and worship was switched to "the lord's day?

During lockdown, when I can't go to mass, not a lot that is special, though I do avoid doing household paperwork on a Sunday.

Although my religion recognizes no weekly Sabbath day (though it does have days and times of day that are considered to be auspicious), I do take non-work days to spend time in meditation.
Especially since very few, if any, states have 'blue laws' anymore. Anybody remember them?

To me every day is a like the Sabbath, since I like to rest and think, and feel like I am on vacation where others help me out. The Sabbath is about introspection, instead of extroversion. This is where you exercise your mind, through internal feedback; inner voice, instead of exercise other parts of the brain via external feedback; outer voice. We give the child a timeout so he will introspect. A spanking was more extroverted since the lesson comes from the outside. Different parts of the brain are used.
Before I entered the site, I was thinking about writing something about the Sabbath, and behold the Sabbath was the first topic on the page. This is called synchronicity or meaningful coincidence.
If you look at the bible and the creation of the universe, God works for six days and rests on the seven day or sabbath. As I studied the bible, I wondered when did God's Sabbath rest, associated with day seven, end? There is no where in Genesis, that I found, where it formally says God is working again and this is day eight. Nor could I find that anywhere in the Old Testament, beyond prophesies for the future. Everyone seems to assume God is working in the Old Testament, since many things are getting done, but there is no formal proclamation of day eight occurring in the Old Testament.
The first possible mention I found was in Revelations, after the Anti-Christ is subdued, when the Bride of Jesus; Heavenly Jerusalem, descends from heaven. This is an act of creation that would need the powers of a God. This may be day eight. After the 1000 year reign of peace, the old heaven and earth disappear and a new heaven and earth appear, which is another period of intense God creation; day nine. God was a little sluggish the first day back, but is full of energy the second day of the new week.
God, being all knowing and all powerful could have altered the future of Adam and Eve. The fact that God spoke and even warned Adam and Eve, but he did not act to protect them, suggests he was still on Sabbath and resting. One can talk but one cannot work on the Sabbath. God would need to depend on servants, to tend to his business; Satan in the tree. It is OK to have others do things for you, on the Sabbath.
Satan was originally called Lucifer or the morning star. Lucifer is the light ; consciousness that appears between night and day, or consciousness and unconsciousness. Lucifer was a creative principle who was working with God, while God was in active his state of creation. Lucifer was sort of like a associate who could provide feedback, that was more than a yes man; willpower.
When God rested in the garden of eden, Lucifer becomes called Satan, due to his workmate status changing to being more like a Sabbath servant. Satan is no longer working side-by side with God, brain storming, as when he was Lucifer, but Satan is now doing even many of God's jobs, as God rests.
God still resting in the Old Testament explains many of the concerns that have been expressed by the atheists. Why would a loving and all powerful God allow so much suffering? The Old Testament, by virtue of not specifying when the rest ends, suggest that God was still resting and his help was not optimized like him. Satan is both good or evil, like the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The Devi is only evil. Satan could do both good things as well as evil things and became the CEO as God rested.

Night before light.
I thought Sabbath meant seventh.

Like what you said, Jesus' greatest commandment is that we love one another, as He has loved us.

Go to church, study the scriptures by myself and with my family, nap, visit others (online right now). I do things to show God that it is His day. I don't work at my job, and except for emergencies, don't force others to work by not shopping.
I have no sabbath day, so it's just like any other day.
To me, the ' faith of Jesus ' is to keep Jesus' NEW commandment.
....and as Galatians 6:2 says to fulfill: the Law of Christ.
Jesus gave a NEW commandment found at John 13:34-35 to have the same self-sacrificing love for others as he has.
Jesus' new commandment goes beyond the Golden Rule (Leviticus 19:18) .
We are now to love neighbor MORE than self, more than the Golden Rule.
Since food does Not commend us to God (1 Corinthians 8:8) I wonder why fast - Romans 14:17-20; Hebrews 13:9
Notice that eating does not make you better and fasting does not make you worse...so that does not mean you shouldn't fast.
The next scripture is saying you can eat meat, but I would eat it sparingly, in view of how the world revolves.
The third scripture seems to support fasting... if your heart works better without meat, go without.
