Biden rides on the ban wagon. Makes "Wuhan Virus" forbidden since January.

Anti-Asian assaults are up 600% what they were 10 years ago, so common sense would suggest that if politicians call it the "China virus" that this would likely contribute to that. Thus, I would suggest common decency should should take this into consideration and thus not use that term.
It's hard to dispute the evidence you've offered.
Oh, wait.....you didn't.

We don't do many things we used to do. Why is it so important for some to call this the "Chinese Virus?" Do you need a human face to blame? Is the name what it is too difficult? Dont forget, "Chinese Virus" did start as a very partisan thing, with the rest of the world calling it a corona virus, everyone, that is, except RWers insisting on calling it the Chinese virus.
Simple. It was never a problem to begin with.

Biden is the one making an issue over it.

Seems like such a... weird thing for him to be worried about.
It is. Like people are being assaulted and dying on the streets as we speak.

Biden is just chumming up to those who think this is a big deal. A political maneuver for favor.

It does read as virtue signaling, I agree.

Ross River Fever, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Lyme Disease. The list is extensive. Whats wrong here?
Unlike Legionaries or Lou Gehrig disease, China/Wuhan virus has dubious origins.
Spanish flu is inaccurate.

As the world was calling it the corona virus that causes covid, certain RW xenophobes began using the term and trying to turn it into some free speech crusade ever since.
Or, it's not an issue to call it Valley Fever. But, if it where more widespread and the world called it by the name of the fungus that calls it and people are getting spores, it becomes a different issue when those known to harbor prejudices against California start insisting we call it Valley Fever.

What I want to know is, who the hell even calls COVID-19 the “China Virus,” apart from actual racists?
Australia and China are feuding right now and even our government has gone out of its way (for all that’s worth) to say calling it the China virus just makes you look like a dumb racist.

Biden v. Xenophobia: New Executive Order Bans Term ‘China Virus’ | Human Events

Joe Biden’s mandate: Don’t call it the China virus …

Joe Biden UNLEASHES Speech Police: ‘China Virus’ and ‘Illegal Aliens’ Prohibited

Pc policing is alive and well. The virus did originate from Wuhan China and there is nothing wrong with calling it for what it is.

'Woke' Biden it seems, needs to pander and stay hip with the SJW crowd whom get offended at anything not on their fav list.

Diseases like Spanish flu, German Measles, Marburg disease, Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), West Nile virus,
St. Louis Encephalitis, La Crosse Encephalitis,
Ross River Fever, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Lyme Disease. The list is extensive. Whats wrong here?

I know,, better start banning those terms too.

Don't want to offend anyone.

People are too sensitive and fragile, and such names will cause irreparable and permanent harm on such vulnerable minds.

Maybe start a new government agency to control terms perhaps?

US Dept of Terminology? Word Enforcement Agency?
He's just signing whatever they hand to him. He's probably not even reading them. Someone else is coming up with this garbage.

I fail to see how it's racist. It did come from China, as far as we know.

So? If the whooping cough originated in Africa I’m not going to call it the African cough. That’s just going out of my way to expose my own ignorance. Like what would be the point? Because if I call it the “African Cough” instead it sounds more like I’m accusing Africans of inventing the whooping cough.
Same with the China/Chinese Virus. Saying that, even going out of one’s way to say that instead of the official title sounds more like China invented this virus and released it upon the world, rather than a disease that first came into contact with humans in China. Maybe the latter is the intent behind the slang usage, but the former does still occur to people hearing it.

If a disease has an official title. I will use the offical title.
Besides if it’s a disease isn’t it more accurate to say that we first discovered it in China? Though even then I’m not entirely sure if that’s accurate anymore.

That makes for some wacked out mentality to think someone is actually racist for calling it for what it is. The China or Wuhan virus.

Like so many diseases and afflictions already named after people or places that never created stir up until a few (insert your own appropriate/creative title here) came along that makes me question their capacity to even be cognizant of their surroundings outside their little world they want to push on other people.

Biden’s EO can only ban terminology in use by government officials. It is non-binding on anyone else. Everyone who doesn’t like Biden’s “Newspeak” should exercise their First Amendment rights and simply use alternate words in defiance.

"
"Chinese" is no more a race than is "Spanish".
And the latter has an eponymous disease.

Didn’t the so called “Spanish Flu” first pop up in Europe and the US? Shouldn’t it therefore be called the European-American flu?

Maybe. But the term is not exactly helpful in maintaining the peace. In the future, assuming we can restore some semblance of normality following vaccinations, maybe it can be viewed through a lens that is far less judgemental. But right now? Maybe ease off a bit? I mean if someone says to me, hey this usage of (insert word/s here) seems kind of racist. If I then double down and stamp my feet, I’d expect to be called a racist. Regardless of my own intents. That’s just the reality, as I see it.

Let's put it this way. Communist China was hated much longer than this. I don't think a name is going to make much difference considering what they have done over the decades to people that includes their own citizens.
