Various kinds of Atheism

I had to post this in the 'General Religious' debates section because this debate is intended for anybody to respond to.

A thread about various churches within Christianity has led on to this question.
I cannot think of many kinds of Atheism myself, but here is my short list.
Please do add to the list, argue about it, deny bits of it....... as you please. :p

Religious Atheism (Henotheism. Christianity. etc )
Implicit Atheism (I don't see how God could be real)
Direct Atheism (There is no God!)
Religion Mythers (God and everything in the bible etc is myth!)
Deism (God is unaware and uninvolved, so there is no Theistic God)
Agnosticism (I don't believe in God but am open minded)
Apatheism (I don't actually care about God, one way or t'other)
Ignosticism/Igtheism. (I don't accept any ideas or definitions about God.

Over to you all.......

Can I just state that apart from Agnosticism, I don't think I recognise any of those.

You didn't include Humanism, non-belief, secularism.

Does it matter

Atheism is a lack of belief in the existence of a deity or deities.
There is only one "kind" of atheism. However, atheists themselves can subscribe to any other view they wish to, as long as they don't believe in any deity.

Atheism : disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods.

Nothing more, nothing else. Otherthan that every atheist is unique, so perhaps you could say there are as many forms of atheism as there are atheists.

They can of course be herded into broad groups but thats down to individual personality not atheism

What about strong atheism, which positively asserts God does not exist?

Agnosticism (I don't believe in God but am open minded)
Nope. There are two definitions for agnosticism and neither matches yours.

1. agnosticism (colloquial) I don't know whether (a) god exists.
2. Agnosticism (philosophical) I don't know about the existence or nature of god(s) - and neither do you. And as long as we don't know, we should withhold judgement.

Would you consider 'transtheism' a form of atheism?

Before I came on RF, I just had one definition of atheism if it crossed my mind at all: lack of belief in gods.

Those atheists who have sub-set beliefs, like your list, I had no clue existed (even agnosticism) and I had to look up deism first time I saw it. I wonder if that's an actual worldview or a way of not saying one is a theist but want to be along those lines. Which doesn't quite make sense because theism isn't a christian word so whether one believes god interacts with the world or not, if that person believes in god-they are a theist (same thing is regardless if one doesn't like religions, don't care about them, or knows god does not exist, if you don't believe god exists, you're a atheist).

Just going by RF, I only remember one or two people who are ignosticists, but, if not accepting ideas means they don't believe in any type of god, they are an atheist.

Atheists don't believe ANY type of deities exist. All the sub-sets and all of that I guess that's personal preference. I'm a pretty simple "direct" atheist. Another thing, when someone says they believe in god, that doesn't mean they believe in the christian god-so I'd say that unless atheists say they don't believe in deities, it really begs the question if they believe in god just not the one they are familiar with.

Too complex.
I decree that it's a simple linear spectrum from weak to
strong atheism. Anything else is frosting on the haggis.

No it doesn't matter but it's a thread for anybody interested.

And thank you for your three offerings. :)

Fair enough..... but Google offers a few ideas about atheistic groups.

Your definition might need to be Adiesm. Just a suggestion.

That same idea was voiced on the Christian churches thread, that Christianity could be as diverse as it's followers.
Of course, Christians were branded as the first atheists because they don't believe in Greek or Roman God's.
Interesting.

OK.
I'll split agnosticism in to 'phil,' and 'coll' segments. :)

Thank you.
