This is a special day for Catholics.
Where we celebrate Mary's apparitions in Lourdes before Saint Bernadette Soubirous.

May Mary give all Christians hope and strength.

Hail Mary
Full of Grace
The Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou among women
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb
Jesus
Holy Mary
Mother of God
Pray for us sinners
Now and at the hour of death
Amen

Well not perhaps all Catholics. I've always been very sceptical of all this Lourdes palaver. It feels like superstition to me. I give it a wide berth;).

Indeed. When there are Marian apparitions the Holy See can authorize the devotion, but Catholics are free not to believe in them.
It is something not necessary, as for the Catholic faith.

As others have alluded to, you aren't alone in the slightest with subscribing to this approach. In fact, there is a level of healthy skepticism to the Catholic faith.

Yes I know. Catholicism spans quite a wide spectrum. I happen to be, by temperament, upbringing and and education, at the rationalist/sceptical end of the spectrum. (My Anglican mother, perhaps - and maybe even my Methodist minister grandfather.;)) I feel a bit uncomfortable with charismatics, the veneration of (supposed) relics and miraculous apparitions. Just not my scene.

I know I'm late getting here but I absolutely love Our Lady of Lourdes. My family and I are wanting to go on a pilgrimage to Lourdes in the next year or so. I think it would be best if we wait until the pandemic has calmed down for the most part though.
