Trump's Second Impeachment: Adoption of the Rules

Vote in on Constitutionality of Impeachment: Yays 56, Nays 44.

Earlier, I watched part of the trial.
One Dem Congressman showed videos of the insurrection. Some I had never seen before.
Another Dem Congressman talked about the Constitutionality, indeed the necessity and precedence, of trying and convicting someone not currently in office.
The Trump lawyer went on and on about how Great, Wonderful, and Special Senators were. I guess he believed ***-kissing is better than facts. He may be right.

I was wondering why Trump's lawyers seem subpar.
The adviser said Trump could be in serious jeopardy if he finds himself charged in criminal court, given his inability to attract a high-powered legal team for the impeachment trial.
Trump impeachment trial: Live coverage and news from the Senate

So many things, IMO, Trump could have done better.

Maybe they ought to stop sending old men to the Whitehouse. Doesn't seem to have worked out too well.

I was speaking about his followers, not Trump himself. Right wing militias are notoriously anti-Jewish and anti-black. They showed up for the riot. Even one guy wearing a Camp Auschwitz tee shirt. Then there were the Kek flags which are just modified Nazi flags. Some claim these are only parody, but I am skeptical that this is ONLY what they are to some right wingers.
Those aren't militia types. They're racist trolls, as much of the "alt-right" actually is. It's 4chan/8chan crap.

Those things are often said. But I think people are
seeing a few things, & making them writ large with
justification. I know many MAGAs. By & large,
they hate Democrats & commies...not blacks & Jews.
Ehh. I’ve no doubt that many MAGA supporters (is that the term?) are not anti Jewish or what have you. I think like any group, they’re people with varying different beliefs.
That said, I have seen enough MAGA supporters on social media express anti Jewish sentiment in their own words no less. So I’m not surprised that they have earned such a reputation. And I’m not taking into account news media either. Though that’s definitely how I’ve seen them represented in my country by international journalist baffled at their behaviour.

Some reputations appear to be more given than earned.
Both sides have extremely warped views of the other.

I’ve no doubt that in today’s climate of instant 24/7 access of the internet where every single solitary thought is recorded online where all to see, has seen an uptick in extremist thoughts be more seen than ever before. Regardless of political opinion. I’m just saying where there’s smoke there’s fire. And there’s definitely smoke coming from the MAGA crowd regarding such sentiments.

I'm sure they're in there. But too many people define
the other side by the few bad examples they see.
After all, not all Democrats are arsonists, socialists,
violent, crooked, & sexual predators.

You are absolutely correct. There are those on both sides that have expressed anti-Jewish sentiment.

What I find interesting on both sides is that a few, causes others to paint a broad brush over the majority that are not anti-Jewish (on both sides)

What if it is a Black Democrat from Russia who happens to be Jewish? :p

Six Republicans joined all of their Democratic colleagues on Tuesday to vote that the impeachment trial against former President Donald Trump is constitutional, with Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy emerging as the sole Republican to switch his vote after an initial vote on constitutionality last week.

The 56-44 final vote marked the closing chapter of Tuesday's proceedings, with the Senate adjourned until noon on Wednesday. All but six Republican senators voted that the trial was unconstitutional because Trump is no longer president. It was the second time such a vote was taken after Sen. Rand Paul, a Kentucky Republican, forced a vote on the same question last month.

Here's which Republican senators voted that the impeachment trial was consistent with the Constitution:
  1. Sen. Susan Collins of Maine
  2. Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana
  3. Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska
  4. Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah
  5. Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska
  6. Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania

Well I can’t really speak to that, being an outsider. The only reason I can tell someone is a MAGA is their outfits are plastered with it. None of the lefty voices I watch have expressed any anti Jewish sentiment. But that’s just my limited experience with them.

Maybe. But I suspect all politicians are ;)

How can u impeach someone from a public office they no longer hold? It sounds super silly to me.
