Trump's Second Impeachment: Adoption of the Rules

Eleven Republican senators voted against adopting the rules. Without a doubt, they will vote against impeachment.

Does that mean we will see a vote in favor of impeachment of 89-11?

Would call them the dirty dozen, but there are only eleven, so they even muddied that up....

Here are the Republicans who voted against adoption of the rules of impeachment. Counting these up, either I missed one or I miscounted. There are 10 here:

Hawley
Johnson
Lee
Marshall
Paul
Rubio
Scott (FL)
Scott (NC)
Tuberville
Hagerty

It is just a vote on procedural rules. No bearing on the final vote other than these 11 are not likely to convict regardless of what goes on in the trial.
I suspect these 11 are those of the opinion that it is unconstitutional to impeach a person after they have left office.

It must really gall the MAGA crowd that a Jew and a black man are leading the prosecution team against Trump.
I've never understood the leftish claims that Trump
& supporters are anti-Jew. His record is very pro-Israel,
eg, moving our embassy, anti-Iran & attacks.

Now, I know that some here will accuse me of defending
Donald. Reading comprehension being in short supply,
I'll clarify....
This is criticism, ie, I oppose both of his actions cited above.

I was speaking about his followers, not Trump himself. Right wing militias are notoriously anti-Jewish and anti-black. They showed up for the riot. Even one guy wearing a Camp Auschwitz tee shirt. Then there were the Kek flags which are just modified Nazi flags. Some claim these are only parody, but I am skeptical that this is ONLY what they are to some right wingers.

Those things are often said. But I think people are
seeing a few things, & making them writ large with
justification. I know many MAGAs. By & large,
they hate Democrats & commies...not blacks & Jews.

Wonder where Cruz is? I hope he isn't absent with COVID. Can't think of too many other reasons he wouldn't be busy positioning himself for a presidential run in 2024 by pandering to Trump's base.

Oh... wait... pandering to Trump's base almost backfired on him re: 1/6.

I see Hawley is in. I guess Josh didn't notice the Evangelical leaders in his own state come out against him due to his key role 1/6. They were joining his political mentor and sponsor, former Senator Danforth, and some of the local newspapers.

I honestly wonder what his calculations are here.

They hate Iran and Muslims more.
Hating Iran is a politician thing. I've never heard of
hatred for Iran from any MAGAs I know. But they
do fear Muslims taking over the country.
And don't conflate Israel with being Jewish. Some ultra Orthodox don't believe in the state of Israel because the Messiah has not come. The complexity is discussed here If the Messiah isn't here yet, does Israel belong to the Jews?
I'd heard of the distinctions & controversies.

It means, we can see a circus for free... right there in Congress!

High crimes and misdemeanors, right and wrong, is a circus. Got it.
But on the other hand, there are those who are making it a circus by ignoring history and desiring to give every President a "Free" January where they can do whatever they like without fear of consequences So they should hail President for Life Biden followed by President for Life Harris followed by President for Life AOC.

Actually, there are a lot of Americans who are simply ga-ga over Israel, but still dislike Jews. Evangelicals look at "the Holy Land" as the locus of the Parousia. They Jews that live there are mostly noise.
