One for Israel

I've been listening to 'One for Israel' testimonies given by Jews who have come to believe in Jesus as the Messiah. Wow. I have an immediate heart-felt desire to embrace these individuals!

This led me to think about the importance of the heart in our search for God.

Hebrews 4: 12. 'For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.'

1 Samuel 16:7. 'But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.'

Mark 16:14. 'Afterward he [Jesus] appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.'

Psalm 61:2. 'From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.'

Psalm 119:11. 'Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.'

Do you think you're honest regarding the needs of your heart? What causes us to become 'hard of heart'?

The demonstration of love and compassion is to many a sign of weakness. The values of the world are opposed to weakness. Yet, to my understanding, it is as we are weak that God is strong.

Do you do what you think God wants you to do? Where do you succeed, and where do you fail (generally speaking)?
Adhere to the 7 Noahide Laws and all that they entail.

I think I have succeeded pretty well in being part of a very lonely path for 4 years, for reforming myself (no longer doing certain things I was wont to do); I've become increasingly closer to G-d, I've changed my wardrobe and now look more decent, I've stopped being as judgemental of certain groups such as homosexuals and transgender people. I generally fail at devoting as much time to G-d as I would like, as well as still struggling with certain prohibited speech.

No, it was the one with the man who saw Jesus after praying.
After watching a number of these videos I was struck by the question of whether Jews ever claim to have direct experience of God, or whether that is the exclusive domain of past prophets.

Most of the testimonies seem to come from people who were surprised that God could enter their world, or be a presence of inner peace and assurance.

If you don't mind me asking, have you ever had a personal experience of God's presence? Do you know of any Jews who claim to have had a direct encounter with God (but not with Jesus)?

Do you think you've made it easy for yourself by restricting the laws to seven?!

Do you think a holy God will accept a less than holy person on the day of reckoning?
