Conservatives, what do you love about America?

They boast loudly about their "love" of rights and liberty; except when it comes to others saying, doing, or being sonething they don't like.
They also boast loudly about their love of democracy; except when their favored candidate loses.
Of course they also consider themselves the "true" patriots.

Found this video and thought it laid out a good explanation of what Conservatives hate about America. To me, it seems the hate outweighs any love for America. Especially when it's broken down.

Let's not pretend that conservatives have a monopoly on hatred.

Besides the fact that conservatives would be likely to disagree with 99% of the rhetoric in this video ... conservatives could make the same video about liberals.

The powers that shouldn't be insure that fear and hatred rule modern politics because that's how they control everyone.

What do I love about the US?
Nothing, I do not love a nation as a concept.

I support it, abide by its laws because I live here and feel an obligation to do so. If I moved to a different country, I'd feel the same obligation.

We exist as a community, part of a civilization. Survival requires that we work together as best we are able. This does not require a feeling of love.

What parts of the video do you specifically disagree with? If it used toned down language like 'don't like' or 'disagree with' would that change?

Or what if it said, for example, 'many Republicans are traditionally in favor of the military but consistently vote against veterans benefits' / 'in favor of America's natural beauty and outdoorsman but consistently vote against environmental efforts to keep American outdoors clean and accessible.'

You've made it clear that you don't want to have
any discussion with them. Why would they come
to an echo chamber that hates them, eh.
I don't hate anyone, and I would love to have a discussion; an honest and straitforward one. I'm rightfully weary of the typical mental gymnastics performed around the bush.

Is giving the appearance of hatred (by posting
such derision) functionally different from hate?

I think people should be able to believe, say, and do as they please as long as they don't victimze or violate the rights of others in the process. I would also never cry like a ***** and make false accusations of cheating just because the guy I voted for lost.

It's a rather simplistic picture of conservatives, to be fair.

"You hate most of the people who live here."

I mean...really, though? When I was conservative, I certainly didn't.

"You hate the civil liberties afforded by the Constitution."

No, they don't. They have a different interpretation of the civil liberties afforded by the Constitution. Quite often I actually hear the same from conservatives, talking about liberals, that libs allegedly hate freedom of speech, or the 2nd Amendment.

These are all caricatures, that knock down the weakest strawman of what one's opponent thinks.

Why do that?

Perhaps we all tend to resort to generalizations, oversimplifications, stereotypes, strawmen, etc. when it comes to the "other side".

But do we do so in equal proportion? ;)
