Chewable jewelry

Pronouns: he/him/they/them
Anyone use it?I have one and I want to use it but I feel uncomfortable using it. I feel like too many people treat me like a young child without chewing on a necklace. But I have permanent scarring on my cheeks from chewing on them and I need to do something about it.Any advice on how to be discreet or on other ways I can deal with this issue?

Forget about what people think and do what you like.

I read about some guy sucking the top of his cane in a Charles Dickens novel and it was apparently normal.

People do all sorts of weird stuff.

There is a 1980's style where girls keep a pacifier on a necklace. I don't know if that will help. Its mid-1980's, during a time when music is very innovative (relative to the 90's); and 1970's clothing styles have been completely banished. Men start wearing pink. It is an interesting time period.

You are right. If people treat me like a kid it's on them. However I just want to hear some alternative in case it might be useful if I need to be taken seriously and I feel chewing on a necklace won't help with that.

Why not keep something small and nearly un-noticeable in your pocket? Maybe in a little jar of rubbing alcohol or something (for sanitary reasons). Basically, like one of the charms on a chewable necklace, without the chain. It'd be like a worry stone... but for your mouth. People would think you were just checking gum or something.

A pacifier would totally stop people from treating me like a little kid.
I assume you're speaking sarcastically. I wish I could tell you more detail, but I don't know what the style was about. I think it was a partying kind of thing. They really did though have pacifiers -- very large ones. I'm not making it up.

Lol I read the title and thought it was about those lolly (candy) jewellery things.
Sounds like a compulsive habit.
I dunno, buy breathe mints or long lasting lollies, so you can chew on something without judgement.

Nope about ones with rubber beads. It's autistic stimming behavior. I hate mint. And lollipops might be too hard.

Hmm. Maybe find a lolly to your liking then. Or get one and take off all but one or two beads. Then tie it around your wrist and chew on it whilst pretending to think about something

Hm.. well I used to have an issue as a kid where I would chew on my shirt .. and this would be seen in class photos even. I don't know if that's relevant to mention.. My mother eventually would get me to stop

I think maybe try out gum? There are many flavors available , so could it just be a matter of finding something you like?

One problem I have now is that there is tarter on my bottom front teeth, and I keep licking it with the tip of my tongue. Sometimes it cuts my tongue, and my whole mouth starts to feel infected.. I really got to go get it scrubbed, but I'd have to pay out of pocket for it. The whole dental thing eventually comes around to bite ya
