I don't feel the need to judge or criticise gays any more than the most of the other people who I have contact with who have different values and beliefs. Homosexuality is legal here in NZ along with the rights of a homosexual couple to raise children.

What about the New Testaments (Paul) condemnation of homosexuals and those so called "effeminate men"? Does that resonate with you or do you condemn that type of thought?

Gonna be honest - I just troll voted on the poll because I think this is an utterly terrible question.

Suppose this is true or false one way or another. Then what? We round up everyone in the "wrong" group and reeducate them, lock them up, or straight up kill them?

Considering there's no real distinction between "atheist" and "theist" - "god" can be literally anything and literally anyone can be rationalized as being in both categories - that wouldn't go well. Some questions are simply not worth being asked because the answer to them is functionally meaningless beyond encouraging snap judgement bigotry.

You might want to do a bit of study in
comparatheir religion. Like ones inwhich
violence is integral.

And whether you actually understand better than the tens, hundreds of millions who
have marched to war under the blessing of their religion.

Prophets of God and Holy Books teach to love and be kind to one another.

Priests and clergy seeking power and wealth teach to kill and go to war.

Example. Muhammad and the Quran only permit self defense.

But the Umayyads who unlawfully seized power after Muhammad’s death embarked on killing and conquering against the laws of the Quran Sura 2:192 which explicitly forbids violence. Here are a few translations.

2: 190 And fight for the religion of GOD against those who fight against you; but transgress not by attacking them first, for GOD loveth not the transgressors.

George Sale

2:190 And fight for the cause of God against those who fight against you: but commit not the injustice of attacking them first: God loveth not such injustice:

J M Rodwell

2:190 Fight for the sake of God those that fight against you, but do not attack them first. God does not love aggressors.

N J Dawood

The Bible teaches thou shalt not kill. And there are other Holy Books which make it clear violence is prohibited. Hinduism snd it’s Ahimsa. This irrational vendetta some have against religion seems to spring from an unwillingness to live up to its high moral standards and is more of an excuse than an established fact.

There is a huge difference between what God teaches and what clergy and priests teach and history is testimony to that. Popes and Caliphs sent their followers to be massacred but the Prophets accepted to be stoned and crucified.

The religion of God does not teach violence but the religion of man does.

Even if the Bible were unambiguous-
which it is not- there's plenty of other viokent religions

Woke does not equal atheist
Hypothetical future based on nothing does not
equal a well known track record of savagery.

"ONCE" did??? You think killing in the name of
religion has stopped?

No religion ever killed as many people as Communism did.
The death toll from Marxist ideology is greater than all the
religious wars of history.
In fact, in the 20th Century secular wars accounted for about
95% of all the deaths - gulags, final solutions, re-education
camps, revolutions, Great War, Nazism, empire etc..

Clever dodge but not clever enough.

First it was woke, now it's commies.

But never mind, you agree that religionists
have a significant role in slaughters.

Who ever committed slaughtrrs and tortures in
the name of atheism? Zero.

Religion inspired action, often fanatical. Like
politics and sports. What VIOLENT action
does no- interest in politics inspire? Ha.

Your totalitarian states elevated the leaders
to at lesst a quasi godlike states, to replace one
religion with another.

In n Korea they go all the way and
make the dictator into a god.

Atheism has zero to do with any of that.

There’s no doubt that religion has been abused and manipulated by clergy to cause bloodshed, but that was not its original Founder’s intention.

How on earth could you know their intent?

Back then, any group of flowers sniffing
Peace lovers did not have the chance of
a case of beer in a roomful of thirsty hells angels.

The OT is full of god- directed violence.

Woke is a form of 'cultural Marxism' rather than Communism.
Behind the million murdered by the Roman Catholic Church over
a 600 year period was the notion of repentance, absolution and
mercy. Atheist ideologies such as Facism and Communism do not
have these notions - they are strictly materialist.
People don't slaughter more in the name of atheism, they do so
because they an atheist outlook, ie we are only animals and we
act like animals; survival of the fittest; there are no absolute moral
truths etc..

For a start, we must authenticate scripture whether it was from God or not.

Can you prove and show evidence that those violent verses were revealed or commanded by God? Can you even provide an author for those books which might contain such verses? Is your interpretation just yours or just your opinion.?

If you cannot provide evidence that God ordered or wrote them then on what premise can you possibly blame God? Where is your evidence?

The christian who wanted to hang me from a lamppost
for being atheist said much the same as you.

Not that "absolute morals" real or imagined
are needed to keep me or anyone i know of from
being evil...but would you be? Is belief all that
keeps you from heinous crime?

As bad as atheists are, it would be a virtue to see us all
dead.

But for fun, name some " absolute moral".

Of course you think atheists are terrible people
and all which makes you terrific by comparison.

But for fun, name some " absolute moral".

One absolute moral is that you love your brother.
others include:
Love your enemy
Don't commit adultery
Don't steal
etc

Without absolutes, in a post-modernist world, you define your own morals.
And most of the evils in this world are carried out by people who think they
are right. Just been reading the Japanese perspective on Pearl Harbor -
they hated America for valid reasons and their attack wasn't evil in their own
eyes, it was righteous.

Proof? None of it came from your imaginary God.

Let's try, "dont steal"

Nothing from anyone under any
possible circumstances?

Is that a question? Of course someone is going to muddy the waters of this admonition
with definitions, circumstances and politics - but the general thrust is good: don't take
what is not yours.

What has replaced religion? Politics. Our morality is politicized and so any political aim
can be converted into some moral issue - that's where 'liberation theology" comes from.
