My Book

I made some mistakes on the formatting of the print version. Don't order it, if you were planning to. (Not that I'm assuming anyone here was planning to. My book is below drivel.) The second attempt is in Amazon delivery system as I write this. Will announce when I get a copy that looks good.

My new book is now available on Kindle, as of an hour or so ago. Search for 'Adventures of the Imaginary Brothers' on Amazon.

Congratulations! I had no idea you wrote. Well, maybe I did but y'know... my brain is like a shcolamacarone (macaroni strainer :D)... things go right through it.

It's fun, I need a creative outlet. Back at the turn of the century I self-published three books, not of the highest quality. That was therapy from teacher burnout. I sold around 1000 books at that. But, sheesh, marketing is a headache, totally. With the Amazon thing, it cost me $400 dollars and they print as they're ordered. In 1999, around when I did the other 3, it cost 2000 to get 500 books, and 1000 of that was for the first book. (Just the setup)

The downside is that anyone can publish a book, and we'll be bombarded with some low quality stuff. If it hasn't already, it'll take the place of all Vanity publishing. (Guys that you pay for them to do it for you, regardless of quality, no legit publisher would ever take money from you) Getting an agent or a publisher is nigh impossible. It's a secret club, often about who you know.

The other thing (reflecting on Sunstone's and mine) is that genre comes into play a lot. Just because people don't like your book, doesn't mean it is or isn't well written. It may be that it's just not their genre. So too with a poorly written book ... it might just be that somebody really likes that genre, so they like your book.

This time around I honestly don't care. Whatever happens happens. I'll hit up some former colleagues, and students to let me do a 'creativity' class. But more books in the making. Right now it looks like about 8 months between books. That's why I called this one 'Book 1'.

One of the characters invented a new word recently to describe his brother, who likes to think things are like people. He said that his kid brother has 'anthropomorphicitis'. Most likely been 'invented' before, but I've never read it.

Well I just think it's great. I joke about writing a book about my life experience with my in-laws.. It would probably be non-fiction, horror, comedy or psychology. I started toying around with a song a few months ago. I may follow up on it, I don't know. I'd never make money from it, I might even be intentionally run over on the street if I played it busking. :D

Do you busk? I've always thought those guys could tell a few stories. Some good money in that, I had kids' friends who'd go out on a Saturday and make a couple hundred in a few hours ... location, location.

I don’t but I want to. I’m not good enough... yet. :D We used to live about 8 miles in from the beach, so the boardwalk would have been perfect. Now we’re about 20-25 miles in. But I would definitely drive to do it. Yes, you can definitely make a few $$.

p.s. no idea why I didn’t get an alert for your post.

The paperback formatting is finally done correctly. Worked out to 174 pages, and I ordered 40 author copies today. Fuel for the fireplace if nothing else. I got one 5 star rating on Amazon, and if that came from someone on here, Thank you.
Book 2 in the series is about 3/4 done first draft. Tentatively to be published in September. The latest adventure for the main character (and his friends) was exploring, then hiding in the bucket of an old Euclid earth-scraper ... until the driver returns.

It is what it is. I'm just glad I don't care. Affectionate detachment to outcomes makes life easier. But if you don't buy a copy, I'm coming to hunt you down. There will be no warning.

Oh good, we’ll have tea. I might even try making some of Manjulas snacks. :D Yes, I will look for it.
