If I were Biden, I'd consider inaugurating
indoors with no news coverage. It's cowardly.
But I'm a coward. Taking away the theater of
the event would likely take the wind from sails
of the hostiles.
The question....
Will Biden be as smart as I think I am?

I hope and expect the cops etc show up fully armed and ready to defeat any terrorist attacks by any means necessary.

If I were him I’d be wearing full bodied armour at all times. Even in the shower

If outdoors, body armor would be a great idea.
(We don't have "armour" here.)
But if he actually took a hit, that would be a severe
security failure & PR, & would lead to a whole lotta
trouble. Twould be better to deprive them of incitement.

Oh of course. My mistake. I keep forgetting Americastan English killed the “u” in a lot of their words.
If Biden is killed (god forbid) would that Kamala lady be the next President? Is that how it works

He can't show that fear. The theater of Biden showing he won't be intimidated or back down is how to address wouod be insurrectionists. Because if Biden gives them an inch they will take every mile they can.
Now, had covid been the only issue I'd say yes, scale way, way back because it is just a silly ritualized formality. But now it's about being assertive and standing by the policy that the United States government does not negotiate with terrorists. If Bush Jr. says to keep shopping is a way to beat them, Biden not backing down must be a hella middle finger to them.

Yes. And if they kill both it then it goes to Pelosi. There are about 15 or 16 or so positions outlined in the order of succession, but its never went further down than VP.

So in other words their tantrum is not only dangerous, it’s ultimately pointless to boot. Since the position will end up going to someone other than Trump regardless.
Again not that I would like anyone to get hurt. Not even politicians

You say "fear". I say tesuji.
Id est, to make the best move isn't made wrong by calling it fearful.

Being assertive is a wonderful thing, but not in all situations.
Sometimes it's counter-productive posturing.

They have resorted to violence and are threatening it again. I'd say that is using fear and intimidation to try to get their way.

But they wouldn't stop the inauguration, only public display of it.

Sometimes giving up a little saves a lot.
In board games, one wins by making sacrifices
of lower value than the gains. IOW, win every
war, not ever battle.

Go proverbs:
Rich men don't pick fights.
Sacrifice plums for peaches.
