Everything but politics

Following the current trends, I though it would be fun to create a thread where each one can say whatever comes to mind (respecting RF rules, of course). You can chose anything except politics.
Let's get creative.

I'll start:
Today I went for a run and it was -2 °C(28° Fahrenheit). I was literally freezing my behind, but I did it anyway because I've been eating too many carbs and I felt guilty. I was wearing a beanie, gloves and warm clothing, and there were people out there running in shorts and t-shirts. How did they manage not to freeze to death is beyond me. In the end I wanted to stop by a coffee shop and relax with a warm beverage, but most of them are closed and all you can get is take-away. I'm not paying 4 bucks for a coffee if I can't have a warm chair and background music so I went home, where I ate a bag of peanuts just because. Now I'll have to go for another run because I had, again, a bunch of extra calories I didn't need.
I've been watching Netflix the entire afternoon so my plans are not going very well today.
I miss the times when I used to have a lot of discipline

We're using the Starbuck's drivethru as a reward to hopefully compel my 7 year old to behave. We have no idea why he's become fascinated with it; we don't drink coffee or patronize the store(maybe that's why?) We did this the other day with some success... I have to say I wasn't impressed.

"He'll have the vegetarian breakfast sandwich." Oh, you're out of that. "He'll have the grilled cheese." Oh, that too, hm. "No, he doesn't want a kale mushroom sandwich." Hm. "Banana bread" Oh, out that that, too... "No, I'm sure he doesn't want to try the kale mushroom sandwich." Finally drove off with a cake pop...

I went for a kinesotherapy session this morning. I pulled i to the car park and noticed a montgolfier at about 300 metres, perhaps a little more.

At ground level the temperature was a bracing -6c, i am wonderful what temperature those in the basket were enduring???

Well, I discovered I was a victim of credit card fraud today. That was fun. It was sort of inevitable to happen at some point, but gee, they weren't even attempting to be smart about it.

4 bucks? I thought you were in France.

Here, I tried to do as much shopping for the week as possible in one trip, to minimise the chance of picking up the virus a second time (my nephew has had it twice so it is possible, I'm afraid.) But I am constrained by how much I can get into the saddle bags on the bike. Tomorrow I shall cycle to Wimbledon (30 mins away up and down hills) to buy bread from Paul, who has a branch there. So that will be good exercise.

Its happened to us twice now...

We're in Iowa, and a few minutes after my husband made a purchase locally, someone in Pennsylvania also attempted to make a purchase with the same card. The bank shut down the card immediately, but didn't notify us of what was going on, so when we went grocery shopping later on, couldn't figure out why our card kept being declined.

Another time, the idiot used our card online to order a pool light.... and screwed up somehow and sent a $125 dollar pool light to our house(which has no pool)... that was caught right away, too, and they even let us keep the pool light(which we have nothing to do with...)

I hope too much damage wasn't done for you...

I'm stuck trying to find my family records before the civil war. I think that's when some of the records caught on fire. But I did find out my whole family so far is from North and South Carolina. Every single one so far I've found. Though, I don't know yet who were slaves.

Pix!
Or it didn't happen.

I've been spend many an hour not researching my family
history. It's been fruitful...I've uncovered nothing. So I'm
quite pleased with the results.

Nah, the issuer is taking care of it. We live in the same neck of the woods, by the by - and the fraudster was guilty of a similar ridiculous geographic disparity so that makes it really easy to dispute.

The most unfortunate thing is that I did get a fraud alert from the issuer last month, but they flagged the wrong transaction. I approved it, logged in to check for anything else abnormal, but at that time the fraudulent transactions weren't showing up yet. I sure noticed them today when getting ready to pay the bill though! Most people kind of notice when they run up an account balance twice of usual and they know they haven't made any big purchases that month. Bloody idiots.

I drink too much espresso ...but you know...this winter is so cold, and hot sugared espresso is a must for me.
Bonus question: how can some people eat salty stuff for breakfast?:p

Good luck. Watching the PBS show "Discovering Your Roots" has taught me quite a bit about what's involved (among other things).

In Northern Europe, easily!

I don't any more, now that I am old (66) and my metabolic rate is slower than it was, but in my rowing days I would happily eat kippers for breakfast. Or bacon and eggs. Or cheese, as the Dutch do.

I don't eat breakfast, but if I did, I would prefer salt to sugar. I love salty stuff.
