Parler is shut down completely

...Was it really that bad that all the vendors had to cancel Parler the social media site, to the point that it was forced to shut down..?

What was so bad about it?

Parler CEO announces their entire system has been shut down, no vendors will touch them, and that will be offline for the foreseeable future.

Yes.

But no doubt we can expect a torrent of self-pitying crap from all the people that think it is their right to make posts propagating lies and calling for the violent overthrow of democracy.

Pass the sick-bag.

Their vendors obviously made their statement clear. They didn't support what was going on on the site. Minus their funding, they may not have had much of a choice but to shut down. And it is very, very obviously the decision of those vendors as to where they put their dollars. If "Parler" wasn't it - so be it. Not much you can do when you lose all of your monetary support. "Go it alone" I suppose - but when anyone and everyone is making such a loud statement against what you stand for, does it really make sense to try and continue? It may... but in this case, I don't think it did... at all.

Even OAN is backing off on strident claims
of the election being stolen from Trump.
Perhaps they recognized that they were
fanning the flames of violence, eh.

Perhaps they're just trying to avoid legal liability for fanning the flames of violence.

It was because it was used to plan the Capitol insurrection, but you knew that.

This is what capitalism is.
They think it will ruin their brand; the money will head elsewhere; so the funders and backers run from it.

I've never been on Parler, never even seen it in action so I don't know what it does or says

It is the night of the long knifes by Big Tech billionaires! Trump was silenced on Twitter and Facebook, and the alternative free-speech platform Parler shut down at the same time. (Apple, Amazon, and Google shutting them off at the same time --- no collusion there).

And not just Trump.... they have been going after scores of dissedent commentators at the same time, with Facebook even deleting the entire "Walk-away" group with millions of members, which contained nothing but a collection of personal accounts of why people left the Left. That, apparently can not be tolerated now.

No matter where you stand politically, anyone who is not worried by this China-style speech control lives in dreamland.

You mean they have a conscience? Hah! No, it's the threats of legal actions against, them, such as the 1.3 Billion dollar lawsuit against Trump's lying lawyer, Sidney Powell. These guys are only interested in the bottom line, not ethics.

No, it's because they allow unmoderated posts, many, many posts, inciting violence, calling for murders, calling for riots, etc. That's why. Amazon will not allow their equipment to be used for those purposes, as it clearly states in their rules of usage contracts.

I have not been active on Parler (will from now on, as I find the Jack Dorseys censorship unacceptable), but I remember their terms of service does not say they are unmoderated. They allow free speech, as long as it is not illegal. Inciting violence or calls for murders would not fall within those bounds.

Can you point me to some of those "many posts, inciting violence, calling for murders" that you saw? Thank you!
