People Watching

My job is downtown, and I spend a lot of time standing around. What I find interesting is to watch people as they go about their business. What I see there is one being wearing many clothes, different expressions of the same life.

People watching is actually a hobby of mine. COVID has put a damper on this over the last year, but I love going to a park, a beach, or even a city street, settle in, and watch how people interact with one another and listen to their conversations or how they behave when they think they're alone.

With COVID, I'm still able to do this from afar or from the confines of my car, but it isn't the same as doing this while being in the mix. Back in March, I spend the better part of the week between meditation sessions doing it from my perch.

One of my favourite passtimes during the summer is to drive into Sarlat on Saturday morning, do a little market shopping and then the icing on the cake. I select a decent cafe, and enjoy a french breakfast sitting in the market square watching the people. All life is there, local shoppers, merchants, farmers but what i find most fascinating is the tourists that have provided me with some great anecdotes.
