Religiousforums.com has now become politicsforums.
I have nothing more to say than that.

.....:emojconfused:
Look, the past couple of weeks were a bit “wild.” My Google feed is still blowing up with news stories about Republicans jumping ship and the recent riots and I’m not even American.
So it’s naturally going to be at the forefront of people’s minds. Hopefully when Biden is sworn in or whatever America does to its presidents, the forum will return to normal. And we will all move on with our lives.
I hope so anyway

Ah, so this is your last post then, right?

Sad really.
Though I do not always agree with you, I did enjoy your take on things.

Well, good luck.
Hope you have a happy life.

Thing is Americans are like that on every single site.
Thanks for sharing this fact, I was not aware of it

Suddenly I think I understand why quite a few RF Americans seem so gullible when it's about America(ns)

Thing is Americans are like that on every single site.

- X happens in a foreign country
- the people of the foreign country talk about X
- Americans enter the discussion and quickly say that they had the exact same thing except it wasn't
- They now derail the entire topic of X to Z and everyone is annoyed with them

It even happens in real life.
American tourists are notorious to compare every little thing with their US experience and then say the notorious sentence: "We don't do it like this where I am from."

Simply ban US politics as a topic. Problem solved.

We're all a little distracted, what with the coup attempt and all. It's that whole wrecking ball in the White House moment that sort of shifts the focus a tad.

It'll calm down once we don't have a lunatic in the oval office.

Be careful what you wish for. A left wing Democrat party really could DEFUND THE POLICE
and allow American cities to burn. Many people voted for Trump in fear of this sort of thing.

But "Defund the police" is a stupid slogan that doesn't mean what it sounds like it means, and a left wing democratic party -- I wish!
Allow cities to burn? Whom do you think is the threat -- the idealistic left, or the fascsist right?

God: "Thou shalt not kill" "turn the other cheek."

Is abortion okay?

Is war okay?

Is murder okay?

Is teaching evolution in schools okay? Is not teaching creation in schools okay? Should both be taught?

Does God exist? If we don't exist (existentialism is a branch of Philosophy), they how can we ask if God exists?

Should we band together, as the Religious Right did, to conform the US to religious standards? If it wasn't for the Religious Right, Reagan, Bush (senior), W. Bush (junior), and even Trump, would not be presidents, and their wills would not be law. Each campaigned to end abortion, and each did not. Each (except Trump, who is Christian) asserted that they were doing things the Christian way.

We had wars in Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc., though God said "thou shalt not kill." In Revelation, it clearly shows God's command not to war with Iraq, or face the consequences (eventual death of all life on Earth), for example Revelation 15: Seven plagues (including COVID).

Obviously the Religious Right was trying to conform to God's laws, but, when they dabbled in politics, they got politicians who said they were "fighting evil" but ended up with torture camps and wars against countries not involved in terrorism (killed a million innocent Iraqis and tried to start a war in Niger over yellow cake Uranium and Wilson's testimony, outing Valery Plame as punishment for not making a phony war). Reagan and Vice Pres. Bush made the Iran Contra scandal, selling narcotics in the US (through Noriega in Panama) to raise money for phony Russian weapons to arm the dictator of Iran and the Contra dictator in Nicaragua against the will of Congress and the people of the US.

Obviously the Religious Right backed the wrong candidates.

There are some who want to talk about how God influenced Adam, Moses, Job, Noah, et al. But some want to talk about how the bible (and religion) impacts life today.

Either religion is a lesson in the dusty and forgotten history of the bible, or it is a part of our lives today. Is God a living God? Are there issues, today, that affect religion? Does God answer prayers? Heals cancer sufferers? Is God fair or mean?

Many disciplines overlap. Religion is sometimes about history, science, philosophy, etc.

Some want to talk about the straight and narrow, and pretend that God's laws have nothing to do with the world today. Others see COVID, wars ("thou shalt not kill" "turn the other cheek" and Revelation says not to invade Iraq), and they want to discuss the role of God and belief in the issues of today.

These are trying times, and we should all respect each other. We should respect the staunch theists who don't think that God has any influence on today's events, and we should respect those who see God overlapping various disciplines.

Defunding police would invite drug lords to rule. Yet, gangs existed for a hundred years with little police interference (hands tied by laws?). Cities infested with graffiti, drug pushers, prostitutes, and vandalism have policemen who ignore crime (few arrests for any of this). We'd save government money and prevent police violence if we got rid of the police.

Errant cops who beat Blacks are criminals. It is impossible to stop all criminals before they commit crimes.

And you illustrate your ignorance of what "defund the police" is all about. It's not about actually defunding the police. What it recommends would allow the police to focus more on crime than is currently practicable, rather than being ersatz social workers.

"Fascism" means national socialism - as opposed to Soviet INTERNATIONAL SOCIALISM.
Fascism meant national control of business, as opposed to Soviet NATIONAL OWNERSHIP of business.
The rule book for German national socialist treatment of what they thought were lesser humans came directly,
almost copy and paste, from American Democrat Jim Crowe laws.

In the WSJ I think, a woman wrote this. She did not like Trump. Furthermore "I know what he would do to me if
he got a chance" but she was going to vote for him because she feared what she saw happening in her streets
with violence and calls to 'defund the police.'
Anyhow, any truth the report that the Democrats are going to bad the term 'father' and 'mother' now? God help
us all.
