"Ambiguous Sayings"

One of the ways God communicates his will or purposes in the Bible is through riddles. One of the reasons to do this is to obscure the meaning of the prophecy.

There are some hard to understand prophecies in Daniel. A really good book explaining some of the deep meaning in Daniel's prophecies:

https://www.jw.org/en/library/books/Pay-Attention-to-Daniels-Prophecy/

This is a thread that is going to deal with some very exciting information from Daniel concerning a king that will understand "ambiguous sayings," who he is, and what will happen at that time.

This is but a humble servant's understanding of these things, through prayer and meditation and holy spirit. If the understanding is correct time will tell. Interpretations belong to God. And he reveals things at his own time.

These are deep things of God.

JW Library.
Couldn't find your text wall in the book, so instead I will review chapter 11 of the book, since it would appear to highlight what is being dealt to us here is false prophecy.

It starts out by interpreting the seventy years of Daniel's prophecy as 70 literal years,

'Daniel, discerned by the books the number of the years concerning which the word of Jehovah had occurred to Jeremiah the prophet, for fulfilling the devastations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.”—Daniel 9:1, 2; Jeremiah 25:11.'

'Daniel realized that Jerusalem’s 70-year desolation was about to end.'

The article then references the seventy weeks to terminate transgression, but interprets these as each week being symbolic of 7 literal years.

This is an arbitrary change, either the 70 years of Daniel was symbolic and this is symbolic, or the 70 years of Daniel was literal in which case in the abscence of justification for symbolism from the text I can reasonably deduce that the 70 weeks was also intended as literal.

The article appears to base this post hoc rationalisation of scriptures on the basis of other modern post hoc rationalisations, not on the original text. 'The weeks are weeks of years. That each week is seven years long is suggested by a number of modern translations.'

It also says the seventy weeks ended in 36 CE, ' It is then that the foretold “seventy weeks,” or 490 years, began. They would end in the latter part of 36 C.E.' But what happened in 36 CE that is tied in with the promise that 'There are seventy weeks that have been determined upon your people and upon your holy city, in order to terminate the transgression, and to finish off sin, and to make atonement for error, and to bring in righteousness for times indefinite, and to imprint a seal upon vision and prophet, and to anoint the Holy of Holies.'?
As far as I know they had to change 70 weeks to "within" 70 weeks, and where does the scripture say that?

Also forgot to mention Daniel 9:27 which says about the desolation of Jerusalem, “And on the wing of disgusting things there will be the one causing desolation;+ and until an extermination, what was decided on will be poured out also on the one lying desolate.” Interestingly Mark 13:14 identifies this with the destruction of Jerusalem, but the military leader who attacked Jerusalem did so from the ground, and was not, "on the wing of disgusting things" ie More false prophecy.

Or what about Daniel 9:26,
"And after the 62 weeks, Mes·siʹah will be cut off,*+ with nothing for himself.+“And the people of a leader who is coming will destroy the city and the holy place.+ And its end will be by the flood."

But wasn't the city destroyed by fire and not by flood?

ETA so far all bible quotes I have used in this thread have been from the JW's NWT Bible.

Greetings Daniel. I hope your are doing well.

I am afraid that you convoltingly twisted everything and did not represent anything you read accurately. I was not going to reply to you, as you often do this. I don't mean to say this to offend you either. But the scripture that came to mind reading your misunderstandings was something Jesus told Nicodemus when he was revealing to him spiritual truths which were beyond Nicodemous' comprehension:

"Most truly I say to you, what we know we speak, and what we have seen we bear witness to, but you do not receive the witness we give.  If I have told you earthly things and you still do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?"-John 3:11-12.

You seem to be replying with an ad-hominem here.

My guess is the reason why is you got no adequate reply.
