The US needs to rethink its election and transition protocols. There was no need until now but Trump is showing the flaws in the process. The damage a sour loser president can cause is just too much.

The descent into farce and hysteria continues.

Last night I watched Episode 3 of the CNN series The Cold War. One of the things that is impressive is the maturity, thought and long-term vision that characterises President Truman, his advisers and the commentators from that era being interviewed about it. At that time, the USA really did steer a large chunk of the world, almost single-handedly, out of the destruction of war towards a better future, with tremendous far-sightedness and generosity. Both president and both house of Congress were able to act together, decisively, and to a fair degree altruistically, for the good of the world - and hence their long term interest.

And today we have this.

The United States seems to have given up on any shared sense of reality or truth, and to be riven by childish squabbling. Can it recover its poise and be a force for good in the world again? With the rise of Chinese dictatorship we need it. Biden and his successors have a huge task.

Does anyone know how many prominent Republicans and/or conservatives are denouncing this move? Or is it the nowadays usual silent cowardice from that side of the aisle?

I'll be glad when Trump is gone and the Republican leadership in Washington can have their balls back.

The article is confusing. If that tweet should ever be removed the article won't make sense. To make sense of it requires following the link in the tweet which goes to the advert which does, indeed, propose an illegal, unconstitutional and treasonous suggestion.

I'm glad some military persons in the dept. of defense had the presence of mind to denounce his traitorous tweet. Once you have a military election you'll always have a military election. What is he, stupid?
