Lab Grown Meat

Interesting! If this became widespread, and perfected, I wonder if slaughter houses and such would become a thing of the past?

I wonder also if vegetarians would begin to eat meat?

I stopped eating meat decades ago because of the huge environmental footprint of meat production and because of animal rights. I don't know how this new stuff will score on the former but I can't think of a strong argument against it on the latter. Hmm.

I'm a bit skeptical. If it's "wonder bread white" meat missing nutrients, I'll pass. But the article does not have enough technical information for me to judge.

This is my concern as well. Where do the macronutrients and fats come from, etc.

there you go....you got it

saw the documentary.....it all depends on the skill of the technician
and without the taste of blood in it
you can tell the difference

even so....
the petri dish is not a grazing scheme of things
the nutrients come from the ground

the cow needs to eat grass...not corn

on the other hand
the scheme of cattle production is about to fail

in theory...one human can live on the produce of one acre of ground
given good soil
rotated crops
fresh water
etc

Cows mature over three acres and five years time
huge amount of water needed

they are ecologically expensive

I'm personally holding out for lab grown vegetables, being the vegetable rights activist that I am.

My daughter is a vegetarian. I'm quite sure she will not go for lab grown meat. But she does use a brand of 'meatless' meat, 'Beyondmeat'.

I'm a big fan of Beyond and Impossible. In fact, I just had a Beyond pizza from Pizza Hut last night.

But no, vegetarians will not likely go for lab created meat, unless the sole reason for their vegetarian diet is animal rights.

I will certainly have to try it. I am told Beyond makes great meatballs and burgers, especially on the grill. I'm sure it may be equally as good in many casserole dishes. Just remembered the burgers come already formed, and ready for the grill. Good for anyone who has to be careful of their iron intake.
