Well, this is exciting and unexpected (although not shocking). I've been a fan of Page's for at least 15 years now. I had a big crush on them a while back, too. When they came as lesbian about a decade ago, they were a great representivr for the lesbian community, and I have no doubt he will represent trans people well. Congrats on coming out!

Kind of a newbie to this subject. Does Page's change involve any artificial methods like surgery or hormonal or other chemical processes?

Irrelevant, really. That's his business. He just came out, anyway. I doubt he's on testosterone yet, but if he does go on hormone therapy, we won't have to wonder as it will be apparent enough on its own.

Hmmph....I'll decide what I'm interested in knowing.
It's considered rude to ask trans people about what surgeries we might have had. It's very intimate information that you don't need to know unless you're having sex with us or you're our doctor. Would you want total strangers asking you about your genitals? I wouldn't think so. So it's not okay to ask us about ours, unless we decide to tell you. It's not information you have a right to.

Ahh, you should understand that a newbie would be curious to understand how all this stuff works. Asking an informed stranger on the internet how the details work is acceptable.

You'd be amazed at the general population's ignorance on this subject.

You can Google surgical methods for SRS and find out all the medical info you want (although images of completed phalloplasties for transssxual men are very hard to come by, which pisses me off). It's just the being nosy about someone's genitals thing that ticks me off. But I'm cool with discussing the medical side in general.

Actually I am not concerned about some total stranger's genitals in particular. It's all a confusing subject I want to understand. I have barely heard of Ellen Page. Actually I was confusing this person with a much older actress.

That's fair. If you have a question, you can ask.

Right. Such things are interesting because they're so foreign
to normal folk those of us far removed from the experience.
I note also that the poster did not ask her him...he only asked of her him.
Btw, I though his their best work was for Vice (Gaycation), not in the movies.

Having some difficulty navigating the terms & pronouns here.

Hopefully someday, we're not going to care when folks come out as gay or transgender.

No offense, but I don't care because I don't care to begin with if a person is gay or transgender.

Isn't that the norm where trying to reach?

But I understand it's more than that and I support Elliot's courage for being honest with himself and the world.

A question because I simply do not know better... @Saint Frankerstein, why do you use "they" instead of him or her?

As hard as it is for someone to come out to their family and friends, imagine coming out on the world stage. That takes some real guts... Respect. :)

If I may hop in here....
I find "they" useful when a person has a history which includes
identification that includes both or neither genders. It's also
useful when unsure. I guess that it's bound to offend some
at times, but it offers the least offense generally (IMO).

I found your post funny. But I was told we can no longer mark posts as funny.

You are funny.

Rude? Well then how about they keep their private life private. Problem solved.

You are funny.
You have my permission to rate any of my posts as funny.
I never object to a frubal.
Rating one as funny is only problematic when it's seen as laughing
at someone (abusive) rather than with someone (friendly). It can
indeed be dangerous to give someone a positive rating these days, eh.
Tread lightly.
