can you hear that still small voice, the voice of the spirit above all that din?
Do you believe blasphemy is unforgivable? There are people who go around cutting off heads for such things.

It's the denial/rejection of forgiveness, itself. That's why it's referred to as the "unforgivable sin".

I believe it is because such people can't be corrected, no matter what happens to them. Such people thrive on deceit and corruption, and when someone or something interrupts them in that, they'll only get angry. And in their injured pride, they want to do the same things over and over again or even try to surpass themselves in their evil ways. This is why they won't be forgiven.

i know sometimes people are their own worse enemies. they find it hard to forgive themselves, to love themselves and in kind project that onto other as self

with love all things are forgivable but sometimes the lover doesn't recognize the love as self.

It has many names. How can you tell without scripture?

Something that's true should stand on its own, no?
nothing can exist apart from the ALL, the Absolute, and yet it has passed judgement on it as if it could be separate from that

this is the dualistic mind. an aspect of the ALL driving out the ALL, judging an aspect of the All

see? can you see? see? see? see?

mind's eye, the spirit's eye

aye

In my opinion, it's because it's a rejection of the very core tenets of the Christian faith. You can debate points of doctrine for all eternity, but once you start to reject the very idea that there could be a god and that this god can act upon human, the entire faith crumble and it's impossible to convert you.

I'm not sure this connects what I asked. Without scripture, how do you know the inner voice is from god and not something else?

Why would we need to feel we need to be forgiven?

Is it something inherent that people must feel they need forgiveness?
We all harm others without meaning to (sin against them). And we are all harmed by others, without their meaning to (are sinned against). So we all need to forgive, and to be forgiven. We want to follow the spirit of love, forgiveness, kindness, and generosity (the Divine Spirit), but as humans, we are often unable to. So we need to forgive to find peace in this life.

But there are some among us who knowingly and willfully do harm to others. They have rejected the spirit of goodness, and have actively embraced the spirit of selfishness, and 'sin'. For these, there can be no forgiveness, because they have rejected forgiveness as a value. You and I can forgive them, but it will mean nothing to them. They are lost.

This is what that Bible quote means, I believe. And I also believe that it's true. These people have lost their humanity, and become like dumb animals. And they live like pigs and parasites. Willfully beyond the reach of spiritual healing.

I understand our needing to forgive but I don't find the need to have expectation of someone to forgive us. I know it's nice that others forgive us for our wronging them, but we shouldn't put that expectation on others just because we may want them to do so.

I disagree with that last sentence. It's not about whether they accept our forgiveness. It's about our action and our intention to forgive. The goodness shouldn't depend on the other person's response but by our actions regardless if we feel the other person doesn't value forgiveness.

Why would one withhold forgiveness based on other people's actions?

I disagree. If you can't say the same thing about yourself (and myself), it's a judgement not an insight in other people's actions and perspectives. Instead of lost their humanity, maybe they're just at a different path than you are.

Maybe judge their actions not their intentions and ability and willingness to forgive or not forgive? We can't go back on our actions but we can always change our intentions by learning from our mistakes.

We don't need any expectations. To forgive, is to be forgiven. That's what it means to "live by the Spirit".

It doesn't. They reject forgiveness as a value, because they've rejected their sins as being sins. They consider their own sins, virtues. So forgiveness is irrelevant.
Why would one withhold forgiveness based on other people's actions?
I think you've misunderstood. The Bible says that as we forgive others, so we are forgiven. It's talking about forgiveness is a state of being. This does not depend on anyone else's choices or actions. And by contrast, when we choose to reject the "Holy Spirit" (the spirit of love, forgiveness, kindness, and generosity) we are rejecting forgiveness for others and for ourselves. And this is how can become "unforgivable" (as well as unlovable, and unkind, and self-obsessed). We can only do it to ourselves, by rejecting the spirit of good, and of healing. No one else can do this to us. Nor can we deny the Spirit to others.

you can't be separate from the Absolute. the observer can't be separate from the observed. may not be able to see itself but thats because of it's own inner blindness.

god is not something separate from self if it is omnipresent or even infinite for that matter.

a dualistic mind sees it as something otherwise, defines it, tries to give it form; which would then make it dualistic/divided from something else.

You lost me.

The question still remains. If there is an inner voice, how do you know it's the Absolute and not something else?
