They all knew who Donald Trump was

I still wonder why Chris Christie 2016 jumped out of the presidential race and immediately threw his support behind Donald Trump, which marked the moment when the other Republican candidates either resigned or were ignored by the media. It made no sense, because Chris Christie still had a chance while Donald Trump looked like a long shot.

They all knew who Donald Trump was...

...and then they decided *** kissing was a better option.
The Democrats knew, too, yet did nothing to stop him. They were too busy ignoring and undermining their constituents.

It seems to me the Democrats underestimated the anger, mean-spiritedness and racism of many American voters, as most of the rest of the world also did.

I recall Christie's antics as governor crashing his campaign.

I think this is absolutely true, and along came Trump who took the gloves off and PC was history.

There is racism, mean and ignorant, yes. Maybe I am underestimating it, too. Somehow I am not able to believe that it is the reason why Donald Trump was selected or elected. It just doesn't mesh with my experience, but I am young only in my forties.

Yah... Anyone can decipher Trump's character at a glance. To flip things into a positive light takes real mental gymnastics, or outright intellectual dishonesty.

I can see no other explanation. Lord of the Flies.

That's how it strikes me. Trump gave people permission to be mean-spirited, racist and vindictive - and they jumped at the chance.

What I suspect it may show is that if one pushes a PC agenda too relentlessly, there can be a reaction. Biden would be wise to rein in the instincts of many in his party, who are just too far from where the centre of gravity is.

Permission has been granted, how can it now be revoked?

It's all a matter of leadership, I think. But it will take a long time to put the genie back in the bottle, in the new era of the internet in which one can be as nasty as one likes, without ever having to confront the object of one's attacks face to face.

I voted for Trump this time and the latter two reasons you gave have nothing to do with it. As for anger, well, everyone's angry about something these days.

I still hope Trump wins, and if Trump loses, he also wins, so its a win win, and Trump is not at a loss. America is at a loss, whether Trump wins or loses, Trump wins and America loses.
