Did Christ Have An Ego?

Was Christ his own person or was he gifted with divine Ego? He went around washing feet and handing out miracles, teaching in parables.

Happy Thanks Giving, btw:)

I'd say that perhaps a divine being is self important and self worthy in a good way. So being divine he deserves his ego. But even having an ego jesus decided to be a servant to others while on earth.

Self worth and self importance is probably the way everyone should be before the fall. After the fall ego is no good for mankind.

Interesting aspect of the story of jesus I would say.

Happy Thanksgiving!

How are you defining ego?

Is there no divinity in you?

Ego is self esteem, and self importance.

If I was divine I would be perfectly loving, and charitable. I don't see myself as divine.

I can be charitable and loving but not very perfect with those ways. So no.

There are times that I have been in servitude to others. But I err. To err is human in my estimation.

Yes. Ideally "spiritual" people are not concerned what other people believe in and do. If anything, they are more humbled around others and accept who they are as people regardless their traditions, who they worship, and how. They'd (how I see it) would most likely help others find their way and get to know others in their belief if they really cared about how they felt and want to help them if that particular way is appropriate. People without egos wouldn't need to care who another person believes in and most definitely wouldn't care whether other people believe what he does. Egoless person would ideally "wash everyone's feet" and won't expect faith from a person (fine print) as a payment for his services. Someone who has no ego (and no spiritual pride) will have unconditional love and save all people by his death regardless if people accept it or not.

So, given that, I do feel people who wrote about christ's life made christ have a big ego. But since humans have egos and christ is flesh, it's easier to identify with people "like us" to puff our spiritual ego than to try to identify with god without incarnation in which they feel they cannot do despite god's ability to do anything.

Does ego necessarily imply a sense of arrogance or superiority? I see it as more a wrapping around the spirit, built on one's experiences of life.

How do you define spiritual pride? Is ego pride in some people's definition?

That's what confuses me, the definition of pride and of ego! I have heard positive and negative versions of pride and ego.

From what I read of Jesus, he resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. So in the Bible pride is the enemy.

The dude claimed to be the son of god. That's an ego that has gone into the territory of arrogance.

I'm looking at the story as if it were a true account. I'm not sure Jesus even existed but if he is just another human and nothing divine, then that is the epitome of arrogance.

To me it is just a story.

A story where he claimed to be the son of god. Which takes an extreme degree of arrogance.

I think @Shadow Wolf pretty much got it: claiming that he's god's son.

Usually people are humble in their spirituality (well, that's how I perceive it) but I never read jesus to be humble with people who disagreed with him.

I think he only seems humble to those who follow and agree with him. Even non-christians say the golden rule is in the bible. I disagree with them both. But I'm indifferent to it, really. Doesn't harm me just interesting to read when I did read it. My bible has been collecting dust for years now and I keep it only because it's my confirmation bible.

The Golden Rule is basically self-centered arrogance because what "I" want is no suitable basis for conduct or morality. It's likely I may want and be ok with things that others aren't. Sexual conduct and flirting, for example, are areas where the only proper approach is to consider others. The one doing it may be ok with it and have harmless fun with others, but there are going to be those made uncomfortable by such gestures and remarks.

Unless His claim is justified, of course.
It is demonstrably not justified because of the things He should have known were God feeding Him information, such as that physical death is older than humanity, and caused by chemical decomposition as opposed to sin.
