...god is “designed”!

gnostic

The Lost One
If there is an “Intelligent Design”, then it isn’t what most people think.

It is man who created god, and who created a cult or religion about such and such a god.

No god or gods started religions, people did. No deities wrote any book, humans did.

And in their writings, teachings and ritualistic customs, people have “designed” their gods to meet their needs.

If anything was “designed”, then it is a god or gods. Humans are the designers.

My 2 cents for the day...now all I needs is to pick a day to rest  ...or a night to party...! :grinning:

Of course humans are designers silly. We are all Pro-Creation after all. We just need to remember that every creation is equally an act of destruction.

So if I were to build a sand castle, you would stomp on it?

Sounds fair?

No but if you were to build a sandcastle, how many microorganisms were killed and displaced by that action? It is destruction, via your creation. To "build" a sandcastle is to destroy a part of the landscape as well via the removal of dirt. Leave no trace.

Just my 2¢

In fact as a Christian I do not believe in Intelligent Design...because this sounds like a cruel game to all those people who weren't born "perfect" for one reason or the other.

In fact...God is the idealistic perfection that exists in nature and towards which all creatures struggle.
But nature is very free and independent from the will of God. That is a given.

Who were the first people believe in God/s and do you have evidence that they designed their God/s?

Thats why I say follow the source. With God, that always ends up with people. Never anything else.

Mankind did not create any gods. They created various images and ideas of and the great mystery source, sustenance and purpose of all that is, that we generally refer to as 'God'. It's time to grow up, now, and recognize the difference.

Oh look, another human mistaking the map for the territory!

Pardon. Some days, I really, really wish substantive education about theology and religion was mandatory in public schools. It wouldn't prevent all of these types of errors, but it would at least help. Maps are constructs, yes. The territory is not.

Man created as much God as there is.
Growing up would involve admitting that.

And yet the mystery remains, no mater what you will or won't call it, or how you will or won't conceptualize it. No matter what you or I do, or won't do, it still remains. And we are still defining ourselves by how we choose to react and relate to it.

Uh, what mystery ? What " it" do you refer to?

As for defining relative to, that may be your deal, it isn't mine.
Speak for yourself, you cannot speak for me.

I don't define myself in terms of the reality or lack thereof, be it "god ", dragons or planet x,
or divers other concoctions from others' imaginings.

We have indirect evidence that it all started as animism as advanced neurologic structures increased social structure. These same neurologic pathways can attribute anthropomorphic attributes to non-humans. Thus we see cave paintings and early images blending human and animal forms.

I am not sure I understand, Can you give a little more detail? The sources come from man so are you saying since man is the source then god followed mankind?

Gotta love the study of the brain.

This is definitely one valid way of looking at it. Archeological evidence of fetishism and totemism in early societies also contributes to this understanding, as it seems like certain objects were revered due to having some intrinsic protective spirit, which stems from animistic belief. Some linguistic studies often point to the same name being applied to gods that were applied to fetishes and totems, which most likely means that certain god ( such as thunder gods etc, started off as objects that people thought had intrinsic spiritual power to serve them.

That being said, this is largely a theoretical conclusion, since there are cases where gods cannot be linked back to any prior object or word. So there isn't conclusive evidence saying that all gods are a product of the human imagination.

Please name the natural scientist/engineer who
designed, please. Right, please?
So it is a tall claim that G-d is designed. Right, please?
Doesn't it entail reasonably that G-d has designed life, He is its designer, fashioner and sustainer till such time He commands it not to "be", and it will come to an end, please?
G-d claims it and there is no other claimant, so why deny it, please?

The Originator of the heavens and the earth! How can He have a son when He has no consort, and when He has created everything and has knowledge of all things?
Such is Allah, your Lord. There is no God but He, the Creator of all things, so worship Him. And He is Guardian over everything.
Eyes cannot reach Him but He reaches the eyes. And He is the Incomprehensible, the All-Aware.
Proofs have indeed come to you from your Lord; so whoever sees, it is for his own good; and whoever becomes blind, it is to his own harm. And I am not a guardian over you.
