We are speaking of the same EU ?:p
The same EU which after this global health emergency hasn't had the courage and the fairness to admit its own faults...
That is, having obliged many countries to cut the public expenditure on healthcare for two decades.
Instead of pushing the member states to increase it and to potentiate their own NHSs
Trying to impose privatizations in the countries with single payer healthcare systems. Britain, Sweden, Italy, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Finland.

After the austerity measures it has been preaching .

I don't know about the others but the dismantling of the british nhs in favour of privatisation is a conservative government ploy to sell off the profitable departments to their Eton buddies and definance the remainder because only the plebs use it.

Nothing to do with the EU but long term tory policy

I received this in an email last night.

The government saw the biggest defeat in the House of Lords for over 20 years today, as peers from across the house rejected Boris Johnson's plan to break international law and pave the way for a no-deal Brexit.

395 lords to 169 voted to condemn the Internal Market Bill, saying that it “would undermine the rule of law and damage the reputation of the United Kingdom”. Thank you to everyone who used our tool to lobby a lord ahead of this key vote.

This is a hopeful sign – but it's not over yet. Their vote today doesn't stop the bill in its tracks – but it shows that it has no chance of getting through the House of Lords without heavy amendments.

It is still worth writing to a lord if you haven't already:
Lobby a lord

What happens now? If the House of Lords insists on amendments - as looks likely – then the bill will be sent back to the House of Commons to vote on those amendments. If we assume the Tory majority in the Commons will reject them, then there is a stalemate.

At that point, the House of Lords could take the big step of refusing to roll over, and blocking the bill. It is very rare that this happens - but it is also very rare for such a huge majority in the Lords to be opposed to a government bill, and unprecedented for the government to be trying to pass a bill that rides roughshod over the rule of law.

That is why it is important to keep making your views known to the Lords, and sharing the lobby-a-lord tool with other people too:

A little ray of hope that all those brits living in europe are not just going to be dumped

I also notice that british spammers have been emboldened.

With the EU anti spam laws i saw a vast reduction in spam, that i did receive was mostly from the US and for some reason, russian girls warning to ****.

In the last couple of weeks spam from the UK had been appearing more and more.

Three different spammers, the style is obvious but each time a little different so spam filters cannot learn them.

I've written pointless emails to my vacuous nodding dog tory MP before now, but how do you lobby a lord? And which to choose? Lord Botham of ********?

You seem to forget, europe has around 45000 miles of coastline compared to britons measily 14000 miles
And of course, international water's are international, not boris's

You also seem to forget that no deal means no deal, you cant cherry pick the bits you went.

Yes yes yawn,we are a small country with a measily 14000 miles of coast line, one wonders then why it's so important to fisherman from France and Spain?,french fisherman are making threats blah blah, how dare they, the EU has its own waters but these are ours, ask nicely about using them or they can go forth and multiply.

From what I've read, one of the reason why the UK is consistently failing to get the Brexit deal it wants, is because the UK wants free movement between Northern Ireland and the ROI, which for Ireland would be a breach of EU regulations.

Yes the EU regulations, they have five presidents to dictate them, for Ireland I think there must be special dispensations for a very difficult situation.

I read this and thought the post was from 2016 or 2017....this in 2020????

Are you serious about how much we pay to the EU? The idea of paying 350 million pounds per week was debunked 3 years ago, the cost of Brexit itself is ever escalating and will be in the billions by the times its done, we have trade deals and now all european produce in the UK will cost even more.

If you represent the typical Brit voter, no wonder we're in the mess where we have a dishonest PM who can't stop lying from day to day!

We pay more than most of the other members, brexits not going to be cheap for anyone,a no deal for the EU will hurt too, they need to realise they cannot dictate to this country or indeed any country, macron needs to understand this for sure.

The UK sold most of its fishing quotas to foreign vessels.

Anyway, fishing is so small to UK, it is virtually irrelevant.

Brexit is a disaster, that we are heading into totally unprepared. Well done UK you sold us a dummy

So how far out so British waters reach??? Consider the closeness of france (22 miles at one point), british waters dont encroaching on french waters do they?

And not much different from wales and NW england to Ireland, british waters don't encroach on irish waters do they?

Face it, the coastline is yours, much of the ocean is t

Sorry bro, that train has left the station a long time ago. Enjoy your freedom, pal.

As Cicero said "I want no just master. I want no master at all".
Britain want no master...no mattet how "fair" it is.
Maybe if the Brussels élites hadn't created a dictatorship, Britain would be still with us.
So I guess these elites are blaming themselves 24/7;)

Not for the UK; we are not independent but run by oligarchs and media moguls.
And in fact the Peoples should be united against these oligarchs...many of whom would want to privatize the NHS...to speculate on healthcare and turn it into a business.
And the EU who has preached austerity and cuts is bribed by these oligarchs.

But leaving the EU makes NHS privatisation and privatisation in general much more likely.
