Hey everyone,

My name is Laika and I am a returning member of religiousforums.com. As many of you are aware, I have depression and have taken a much needed mental health break for the past four months. If I have any problems, I will need to take another break from the forums but I will keep you updated on any developments if that ultimately proves to be the case. For now, I will try to make the best of my time here and be as sociable as I can. :)

Otherwise, I hope you are all well. It will be good to catch up with some old faces and get to know some of the new ones who have joined RF since I left. How are you all doing? Are you all ok?

p.s. I'm running a little low on bacon @Revoltingest . I hear you do free deliveries? :D

Mental depression is a hard thing to have to cope with. It is harder than many physical infirmities because it is a disease of the mind and not as discernible as a physical handicap, but is just as bad if not worse. Hope you got the treatment, are getting the treatment you need.

Thanks.

Most of the debates on RF make me want to scream, but I do genuinely like the people here. So, you have to pick the best bits if I can. :D

Thanks very much. :) I have had depression for over a decade now. So I am solidly in the category of it being a "chronic" condition and managing it dictates most of my day-to-day activities. I had a major episode last year and ended up in crisis housing after some problems at work threw me completely off the rails. I asked and got the help I needed when it was most needed which was the right thing to do.

I am not currently receiving therapy, but have picked up the pieces through most of the year. It's not a victory or a full recovery, and certainly doesn't feel like one on the bad days, but I am still standing and that is something to be proud of under the circumstances. Living through Coronavirus has been a weird mix as its been very disorientating, whilst also having to put life in general on hold has proven a relief for many reasons.

Overall, I'm managing and keeping my head above water, trying to focus on constructive things to do as the days pass. Good food is always a plus. I am spending quality time with the cat, who enjoys being in control and gets lots of attention in return, but she is good for therapy too so that works out just fine. :D

It's good, but good is relative to where I've been, rather than where I want to be. Depression is never 100% within your control so you have to enjoy the good days when you get them basically.

So glad you are up to coming back. Its good to see you

Thanks very much. I hope you are well. :)

Yep!
Been in a hard lockdown here for months, but my job is ok, my wife's job is ok, and we have a baby coming in 6 weeks...!

Wow. Congratulations. I didn't know. That's fantastic news. I hope it works out safely for you all. :) Do you know if the baby is expected to be a boy or a girl? (if you don't mind me asking...)

Welcome back, Laika! As you can see, it's pretty much the same around here.

Dam. Just when I thought the cannibalistic tendency to devour each other in debates on a regular basis might have gone away...

Oh well. You can't everything I guess. Glad you are still here comrade. :D

Can't complain too much. I still have work, which is busy. Managed to stay afloat during closures. Tough not being able to see friends as much right now though.
You?
