This reminds me that when I was posted to Dubai I bought a type of Mitsubishi 4 wheel drive which in the UK is called a Shogun, but out there was called a Pajero.I had a white cargo van at school. The older kids who knew the reputation of the plain white van and schools gave me a hard time. "You perve!" I'd say, "After school would you like to come for a little ride?" in the fake way only a drama teacher could do. They'd laugh. Good thing some parent who didn't know me didn't wander by.

It was only on my return to London that I worked with a S American who thought this very funny...and explained that pajero is S American slang for w*nker! So, there I was, driving proudly round the Emirates, in my red Mistubishi w*anker, for four years.
The Japanese have always had a real gift for choosing inappropriate names for their cars (Toyota Cedric??; Mitsubishi Starion = Stallion??), but this one must win some sort of prize for cultural clumsiness.
