How did Muhammad receive Quran?

In your view, how did exactly Muhammad learn and tell verses of Quran.

If He recieved revelations from God, how exactly did that happen?
Was there an external angel Gabriel who was bringing the words of God to Muhammad?

If so, how do you explain when Quran says this Book was revealed in the Night of Qadr? It seems, the Quran says, the whole Book was revealed to Muhammad in one single night. If so, how do you explain the angel Gabriel gradually revealing verses to Muhammad?

Muslims believe that the Quran was verbally revealed from God to Muhammad through the angel Gabriel gradually over a period of approximately 23 years, beginning on 22 December 609 CE, when Muhammad was 40, and concluding in 632 CE, the year of his death.

Yes, how do Muslim explain, when a verse in Quran says, it was revealed in one single night?
Are you aware of that verse? Search for "Laylatul Qadr". Night of Qadr.

My understanding is that Laylatul Qadr was the very first day Muhammad recieved the teachings from Allah through Angel Gabriel, the rest of the teaching that we know of as Qur'an was over 23 years time delivered to Muhammad by Gabriel.

Other muslims may understand different

We should look at the verse itself, to see what it says. We cannot make Quran, say what we want it to day. It says, the whole Quran was revealed in one night. It does not say, the first verse, or revelation began on the Night.
So, there is an apparent contradiction here: on one hand an angel was appearing and gradually telling verses to Muhammad, on the other hand, Quran was revealed in one single night. How to reconcile this apparent contrediction, is, the subject of OP.

Maybe night refers to a period of time, just as in Genesis, many believe the 6 days of creation really means 6 periods of time.

It could mean that this special(Qadr) night was the beginning of a new revelation/scripture being handed down.
The earth was in a spiritual darkness, i.e. night, which continued over the next 23 years until the revelation was completed bringing light.

23 years, i.e 276 months, which is alot less than the 1000 months mentioned in the verse

"We have indeed revealed this (Quran) in the Night of Qadr: And what will explain to you what the Night of Qadr is? The Night of Qadr is better than a thousand months. Therein come down the Angels and the Spirit (Gabriel) by Allah's permission, with every decreed command.

Peace it is until the rise of Dawn!" (Quran 97: 1-5)

Actually:

With the truth did We send it down, and with the truth did it descend, and We did not send you except as a bearer of good news and as a warner.
We have sent the Qurʾān in [discrete] parts so that you may read it to the people a little at a time, and We have sent it down piecemeal.
Say, ‘Whether you believe in it, or do not believe in it, indeed those who were given knowledge before it when it is recited to them, fall down in prostration on their faces, and say, “Immaculate is our Lord! Indeed Our Lord’s promise is bound to be fulfilled.”
- Surah 17:105-108

Nope (see my reply above), but what you say is in fact very true for the concept of "6 periods" mentioned in the Qur'an. Creation was manifested over 6 periods of time. It also corresponds to Surah 70:4 which mentions:

تَعرُجُ المَلائِكَةُ وَالرّوحُ إِلَيهِ في يَومٍ كانَ مِقدارُهُ خَمسينَ أَلفَ سَنَةٍ
The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a period ("day") whose span is fifty thousand years.
So be patient, with a patience that is graceful.

These are not revolutions of the sun and moon around earth, these are not even things to do with our universe alone but all the universes ("worlds"). All of creation is a process that is ascending to God over an unimaginably long period of time. Since we're speaking of God (which is not a being or a physical thing), this is something very different we are speaking of here.

The Night of Qadr is not exclusively about the reception of the Qur'an, that being only one thing that it represents on a calendar. In Islam, both Sunni and Shi'i, it represents a myriad of many symbolic things.

Here's some stuff:

Suratul Qadr, (The Night of) Ordainment or Power

The Night of Destiny

Laylat al-Qadr

Check out this too:
Night of Power (Lailatul-Qadr)

The night of Qadr doesn't mean one literal night, but is a metaphor of something else.
