What does it mean to search for the truth?

You tell us.

Most people who claim they seek the truth are really just seeking greater control over their circumstances. Functional knowledge gives them this control, they feel, and so they wrongly equate functional knowledge with "truth".

I spoken a lot about seeking or searching for the truth.
But what am i actually searching for

What is that truth actually?

Maybe out of the billions who inhabit the earth, who are you in relation, what is your purpose, do any of us make a difference in the whole picture, how can I define me in relation>

I do not know.
People make a different in daily life, but what i seek is not on earth.

Repetition of the word “Water” doesn’t cool down thirst because the word “Water” is NOT “Water” itself.

Similarly, the repetition of “Truth/God” doesn’t cool down thirst because the word “Truth/God” is NOT “Truth/God” itself.

One need to consume Truth/God in order to cool down that thirst. :)

There's two parts:

- epistemology: figuring out a process to discern truth from falsehood
- rational inquiry: actually implementing the process.

If i could tell i would, but i can't:)
If i knew the truth i would not need to ask for it :)

It is the right effort that a man exerts in searching for the Truth, that makes a man worthy.
Not the Truth itself, that a man possesses or believes to possess.

PS: I translated the sentence from German...I hope it makes sense in English.

Truth is the actual facts or information about something, rather than what people believe, think, expect, or make up.

True, but does not that depend on what we seek?

Absolutely! Based on your previous posts, I assumed that you weren't really talking about things like scientific proof in this thread. More like spiritual truth?

truth is power, and it is known because it gets results....no results, no power, no truth.
Actions and deeds that have meaning, since the road to hell is paved with good intention, so that amounts to a negative value if the good intention did not strike some gold.

Isn't the truth, "what is"? Do we really need to know this? I mean after all, it's all around us all the time. Isn't our being in it, and part of it, truth enough for us?

No, because we want control of it. And that's the truth ... of us.
