Who is your Savior? And saving you from what?

Note 1: Speak for yourself, try not to generalize or speak for others - let's leave that to ***
Note 2: Use your own words, not copy/paste verses from Bible or other Scriptures
Note 3: This is not restricted to Theists only of course

Best known is Jesus whom Christians believe/know will save them from their sins
Less known are other Saviors who also claim to save them from ***
Well known is Trump I will save you from ******

Do you need a mediator?

Jesus Christ = Saved from death by either resurrection from the dead or translated from among the living.

Saving me from death and unhappiness.

Maybe some look to God to save them. Maybe some look to the Government to save them.

I don't look for anything to save me. This is something I have to figure out on my own. I've been fairly successful so far.
However, I suspect that is more due to luck than skill.

I was following up until the trump part. Just because?

One thing I found is I don't need a savior. There's no one I know of call to,in a spiritual sense, to help me. It's more cultivating my state of being and if I have support, cool. I'd say I have support not savior. I do believe I will die "and" nothing will be left of me but ash, energy, and memories to only those who wish to keep them alive. But save me? What does that mean? (Outside christian context?)

There's no concept of salvation or saviors in Germanic religion. There's nothing to be saved from. The world is as it should be, take it or leave it.

An ex BF, now known as Paul Too because my hubby is also called Paul.

I got myself into serious trouble and was considering suicide as a way out. Paul Too came along on his white charger and within moments the mess was sorted, almost...

... Although the trouble was solved i still, on occasion, wake up screaming from a nightmare.

No more to be said

Started out as a Catholic but - surprise ! - settled for Chaitanya Mahaprabhu because I found him to be more accepting and more "willing to save" than Christ, not requiring self-mortification. Well, what does he save me from? I suppose many people, especially from Christian cultures, have unspecific feeling of guilt and inner conflicts. At least for me, I would be lying if I said I had none, so for me, Chaitanya offers an all-encompassing and pleasurable way out.

For me, there is nothing to be saved from in the sense of a "savior". My deeds for good and ill may have karmic consequences but those are for me to experience and learn from.

Also from my perspective, there's nothing to save the world from. The Avatar is born again and again to take the world on His shoulders and help it move forward. It's possible to assert He's saving the world from it's own folly, but the usual meaning of the world "Savior" does not fit as I see it.

You put me in a difficult position of having to disambiguate my understanding from yours while putting yourself forward as an expert. I don't think you've given all of the religions an even starting position.

Do you need a mediator?
Between me and other people, definitely. That's why there are diplomats, arbiters and representatives. In the past such people were called priests and then later ministers but had the same function as our modern equivalents.

Who is your Savior? And saving you from what?
The name 'Christian' literally means 'Little savior', so its supposed to be a commitment to action. On the other hand a person can't save themselves and needs help, because we are social creatures.

Why? Self Effort can get you well on track

I take it that salvation is to find permanent peace and a life of great worth in doing. Perhaps salvation is about letting go of all things not worthy of living. Things such as bitterness and hate.

What a person puts first and foremost might be what saves them from an unworthy life. I put virtues above all other things. Hope that saves my remaining years.

It would help if we had an eternal destiny or fate to able choose from. I think there exists a love beyond comparison that exists. This love is not an easy path, but I would not choose otherwise. Hope it saves me. Otherwise I will have to face the finality of goodbye to all I love. Often I face both letting go, and carrying on with this love.

It's about carrying on no matter what may come. That's my salvation. If you are going to live you are going to love someday. I stake my salvation there.

This I can't believe

:D

What of the folks who died during 9/11. Besides the terrorists. What was their fault?

Maybe somethings folks could have done otherwise and lived but lacking knowledge how would they know to be elsewhere on that day?

Reincarnation makes most sense to me here. I can't tell you what there fault was, one needs to be omniscient

True. Although I am a huge fan of Self Effort, there are situations you can't avoid it seems, but of course I keep doing my Self Effort

The concept of salvation is generally absent in contemporary Paganisms, and my path is no exception. I've never understood what it is I am supposed to be "saved" from.

You have a concept of preserving nature. Environmentalism. Isn't that sort of a salvation thing?
