Who are the Proud Boys? Start here.

During last night's debate between Biden and Trump,
  • "...Trump was confronted by Biden about his leniency toward white supremacists and right-wing militias, and he was asked by moderator Chris Wallace to publicly condemn them. He didn’t do that, although he did address one such group, the Proud Boys. He said:

"Proud Boys stand back, and stand by, but I’ll tell you what, somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left because this is not a right wing problem this is a left wing." Who are the Proud Boys?
That's the first time I ever heard of them. Now, my curiosity is piqued. Who are the Proud Boys? I start here:
  • Proud Boys
    • "Established in the midst of the 2016 presidential election by VICE Media co-founder Gavin McInnes, the Proud Boys are self-described “western chauvinists” who adamantly deny any connection to the racist “alt-right,” insisting they are simply a fraternal group spreading an “anti-political correctness” and “anti-white guilt” agenda."
    • "Their disavowals of bigotry are belied by their actions: rank-and-file Proud Boys and leaders regularly spout white nationalist memes and maintain affiliations with known extremists. They are known for anti-Muslim and misogynistic rhetoric. Proud Boys have appeared alongside other hate groups at extremist gatherings like the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville. Indeed, former Proud Boys member Jason Kessler helped to organize the event, which brought together Klansmen, antisemites, Southern racists, and militias. Kessler was only “expelled” from the group after the violence and near-universal condemnation of the Charlottesville rally-goers."
Gee, they're "good ol' boys" ... :D:D:D

It's kind of interesting how they got an entire set of uniforms already, I wonder where the money for that came from?

A bunch of pathetic ignorant children who are such phenomenal losers that they can only find relevance in pretending that they're somehow superior to others.

It's not even a very good mask, you can spot their fascism a mile away. They even got the black uniforms.
Nah, that can't possibly be true. Because if you ask them, they deny it.

Therefore, totes not fascists.

Saying you are not a fascist = Not fascists.

Also, they never wave a swastika around!

No swastika = Not fascists.

And we all know white nationalists are all skinheads with Nazi tattoos. It was even in that one movie!

No skinheads + No Nazi tattoos = Not fascists.

So, we can all safely conclude that the Proud Boys are not fascists...

As long as we ignore their views, their rhetoric, their strategies, their ideologies, their structure, the people they are allied with, the causes they support, their targets, their fetishization of history, their use of violence, the targets of that violence, their militaristic structure, and just about everything that they say and do.

The wonder and awe of "all things".
I got lucky a while back to chance across this inside look, and not only at the Proud Boys but also on their opposition, both in Portland:

(this is a much higher quality than we often get trying to learn more about a group)

A group is sort of like the way a certain energy got channeled.

I had no idea he was referring to an actual group watching the debate either. Now knowing the context, it makes the comments he made incredibly disturbing (though not unexpected).
That's exactly right. His actual wording should set off alarm bells. It's just that alarm bells have been ringing a lot and people are getting deafened.

I have to admit that when I first heard of them I assumed, from the name, that they must be some sort of Gay Pride society. I imagined them all with moustaches, strutting, in leather caps with chains, in a Mardi Gras procession. Or something along those lines.

Apparently, I was wide of the mark. :D

I mean many of them do have mustaches, and they do seem to enjoy strutting their stuff.
It's just that they strut their ersatz manhood rather than the real one.

A lot of people getting deafened is why this creep is still in office at all. They've already demonstrated they are unfit to hold public office on a regular basis. Obvious support of what is basically domestic terrorism on top that? It's inexcusable.

On the plus side, to restore some sanity into the conversation, I suggest folks give this article a gander: Election violence in November? Here’s what the research says

"In the U.S., if any political leader calls for vigilantes to mobilize, both the federal government and states have the capacity to expeditiously eliminate this threat. Militias may be armed, but they are no match for a well-trained National Guard or Army regiment. This should help deter the risk of violence by vigilantes."
