Evidently President Trump paid only $1500 in personal federal taxes over two years and none in the 10 years before that.

And, as opposed to being an astute businessman. Instead of making $435 million dollars, we LOST $47 million.

He has been running his companies into the ground. He is running the country into the ground. And he wants the taxpayers to pay *his* debts.

Anyone who has been watching has known he is a con man, pure and simple. Maybe, just maybe, some of his supporters will realize this finally.

Its shamefully funny, but no. You won't change his supporters. What you need to do is win some of them over with policy changes. He was outrageous from the beginning, and people voted for him anyway.

Actually, some of his support among White non-college males in a few key battleground states has been quietly eroding over the years, but whether it's enough to make a difference in 2020 is anyone's guess. It does show, however, that a few of the dead shall rise from their graves.

I was shocked by this.
Hang on...sorry...I mean I was absolutely not shocked by this. Confirmation of what I suspected.

I've been saying this all along. He took advantage of tax loopholes intentionally designed for the wealthy.

I'm not surprised at the least, and the worst part is, it was likely perfectly legal for Trump to do.

In terms of the specific's of Trump's return, I couldn't speculate whether it was all perfectly legal or not, but I'm just assuming it was for now. Wealthy people commonly take advantage of loopholes. It's problematic to society as a whole, and casts some of the talk around tax rates, etc in a different light.
Raising taxes for the wealthy is far less impactful than closing tax loopholes and making everyone pay their share.

In political terms, he was selling a message, around promoting America and being a great businessman. That message gets harder to sell when pesky journalists are going to keep asking about taxation and the profitability of businesses. But he's done such a thorough job of discrediting journalism at this point that this will all be far less impactful than it would have been 5 years ago, I think.

Yup. And many legit ultra rich people who speculated by his various assets and other things he isn't nearly amd no where close to being as rich as he is.
It seems that too is a Hollywood cutout, a charade that is one of many.

I've said it before (here) but I just view him as a salesman. I've worked with heaps, and some are good guys. But some have a very particular view of the world and how it works. Perception is reality. They started 'infecting' one of my project managers with that view (perception is reality) which is a very risky belief to hold when you're managing large-scale projects with lots of money and resources.

I punched him in the arm and told him perception had nothing to do with whether that hurt. (We knew each other pretty well, so HR wasn't involved...lol)
