COVID-19: And now for the bad news ...

As of this writing, the COVID-19 Update reads:
  • Coronavirus Cases: 32,209,019
  • Deaths: 983,767
  • Recovered: 23,752,955

But "Recovered" comes with an asterisk. See Neurological consequences of COVID-19: The 'Silent Wave'

Note that the article does not insist that COVID-19 is a likely precursor to Parkinson's disease, but the concern for a "Silent Wave" appears all too real.

And for those in the US, you better believe that the insurance companies will view the coronavirus as a preexisting condition when it comes to future claims stemming from neurological or respiratory disorders.

One of my close friends had it and was house-bound for five weeks, losing 30 pounds in the process. That was in early April-early May, and yet today he can't play golf and is wobbly when he walks because of too much instability and pain.

As @metis ' post sadly pointed out, many will have long-term disability because of the virus and there will be long-term costs.

My only addition is to add heart conditions to neurological and respiratory disorders.

It's going to be a pleasant day when the Trump-packed Supreme Court strikes down the Affordable Care Act, along with its protections for people with preexisting conditions.

Not that I really like it but this will be the reality of a Republican SCJ. The really sick part being judges are in no way, shape or form supposed to be political. And if one is appointed and doesn't decline or recuse, they will be unethical as well.
